I have been watching the server now and how it reacts to someone who comes in with 550 ping, and everyone else is at 100 ping. Everyone starts lagging real bad. I believe all admins should be helping with this babysitting the ping. So I am proposing a 300 ping limit for our server. This still must be a judgement call guys. There is some gray area, we cannot simply go kicking everyone with over 300 ping limits. You must babysit the ping list and watch for the new players who come in with abnormally high pings. I have been kicking these players also for 5 minutes so hopefully they just dont come back. I don't know if there is some absolute way we can enforce these rules or if some players should even just be banned for to many times come in with 900 ping. I also have been giving no warning. This takes too much time. The people never reconnect when asked, and then everyone suffers for it when it's laggin. =kick no warning. If every person has 300 pings and above, it is because you have already let slide the one or two guys who makes everyone else ping go up. We also should not be kicking clan members, or good friends to the server. If after a round or two, this pings dont fall again and "maligad" is the only one with 600 ping you should ask him to reconnect. I propose we can kick =above= 300 pings without warning. This does not mean start being a dictator about it. If a player has been in our server for 3 hours with no problems and his ping is at 321, because of another new players bad ping, this is not his problem and it will likely go back down again.

Alright, I'm sorry but your post is based on a myth. Yes you read that right a MYTH. It is impossible for a player regardless of how high their ping is to cause server lag for everyone else. I will spare you the technical details, but it has to do with the UDP protocol used for network transmissions in the game, and the Unreal Engine netcode specifications.

If the ping rises for all players this is a SERVER side issue, NOT a client side issue. Kicking high pingers is not fixing server-wide high pings. Kicking a few people may fix it, because it removes a bit of stress on the server. So it may SEEM like you are fixing the issue by kicking 'these 2 guys with 400 ping', but actually it's just the fact that there are 2less players which makes things run smoother again.

A ping is just a 'hey can you hear me server?' and a response from the server 'yes I can hear you mate'. There is ABSOLUTELY not interaction with other players. If another person has a higher ping, this in no way influences your own latency, ping, or connection.

However, before you jump to conclusions, I do think we should kick high pingers. But not because they cause server lag, because this is simply untrue. It IS however very annoying to play against high pingers, because they are impossible to kill: when your client receives information about the pingers location, he will have moved to a different spot already because of his high latency. So it is very annoying: they seem to jump from spot to spot, they are incredibly hard to kill. Conclusion; they should be kicked. But, I can not stress this enough, they have absolutely nothing to do with the server lag. This is an issue with the server host.

I'm not making this up, I have several years experience in ICT technology design. Google it if you don't believe me.

i support the no high ping rule,,i personaly have ping around 180-220 depending on how much people there is on the server, and i can speak for mali as well couse he has the same connection and we are 100m appart,I also noticed that most people logging from europe have all pretty much the same pings,,180-220/250,,this is all ok and does not affect the game,,well however there are people with low speed internet like that stick internet and i belive those sort of issues are lagging our and any server couse it takes more time for the server and the recipiants to deal with themselves. Those pings are needed to take care of,,in my opinon.

its just my opinion, but think a ping limit is important. For 2 reasons, 1: keeping the server running smoothly, as it takes time for the server to react to the higher pingers, it slows the server response time for all players on the server. one guy joins with a 500 ping the 200 hundreds shoot up to 300 and so on, Fury, i have read you response and agree mostly but it does happen, high ping players drives all pings up.
2: keeps other players from complaining, having been an admin of other servers, i know alot of the random players that join servers, keep an eye on the pings. To blame their misfortune on the ping.
I know i'm a new member and my input may not mean to much at the moment, but take it as a out side point of view, a player suggesting ways to keep your server full and enjoyable.

I am proud to announce that broadband stick connections times are behind me, so you wont see my ping going like crazy anymore. (no more +600 ping for me)

As to proposed ping limit, I'm for 300 - 350 (Where i noticed William is often cca 300)

Regarding lag rounds, if it cools down after single round, its not big of an issue for me, but if you wish you can move sever to New York.

the number of visitors who can play on our server can also be reduced. Perhaps this is also a possibility.

300 ping limit as I think in order. so I think everyone can live. william terms, we all knew that his ping is not always the best. We have to accept it, especially since an admin or member should be excluded from any kick when he is not just wantonly. I also think that William is a good example that, despite the height of his quickness, the pings will not be obstructed. William would not be one of the best if the ping would be crucial how well or how bad you are. The amount of pings is influenced by various factors. Once the server's performance, the number of players playing and where they come from or what part of the earth they log in and the performance of their PCs.

I am thinking that 350 is the key number for safe watching. Watch the pings closely as I have been. We have had FULL server last 2 days. and will again today. If you babysit the ping. Even in full server I had 100 pings. when someone jumps in...usually a noob with 400 ping
you can single him out as the cause of most ping rounds. 350 ping is the safe number I will propose..

350 is fine.
major do you kick them straight or do you ask to leave/reconnect?
