Hi, this is Gr3asy_Rider.

I wanted to stop in and say thanks for welcoming me back into 420. I was there back when Shake was first masterminding 420, and I immediately bought in because it had the same kind of good time vibe as my first clan {SBD} Silent But Deadly. (or as I liked to think of it: Sex, Booze, & Drugs) I ran that clan as Ozymandias with Nik/101Proof and recruited (had between 30-40 members over time) way back when, on A House of Porn and Filth and Cinnci RR servers. (And FMJs back when it was new!) Sad as I was when the fragging bubble burst and people scattered forth into the future iterations of UT, it was good to see a lot of old school players stick around and not give up on the grand old game. A testament to its awesomeness that after a decade it still rocks as hard and has loyal players. In truth I would've been back much sooner but I had nearly given up on playing UT as my computer had developed significant glitches that reinstalling the game and video drivers couldn't fix.

Enter the system crash. When the devastating ice storm hit Kentucky and knocked out power for a million people (not to mention the heat for me and many others) I was just thinking about getting my wife and babies out of here safely after a day or so of freezing under blankets in the dark. Thankfully, after waiting in line an hour for gas the second morning, we did just that and got the Hell out of Dodge. Upon returning, when the power was restored some days later, I was aghast to find my primary boot drive failed. Although there is a lot of data that I am sick about losing (I do NOT look forward to retyping my 70+ songs), I did in fact find a little silver lining in all of the adversity. After installing a new 500gb hard drive and OS, I had a flash and grabbed my UT GOTY ed install disc out of the folder (never letting that one get lost) - WAZAM it freaking works right again on the fresh Windows install! Actually that deserves even more exclamation points, but I digress.

For those that don't know me well, my name is Wes. On UT I vacillate between being quiet and playing hard, and being a chatty-ass jokester. Outside of UT and sometimes in conjunction with it I greatly enjoy the herb, bourbon, and psychedelics when they're around. I traditionally like to use a lot aliases, I'll use the clan tag on them or not as you like, I'm 3asy. I used to be kinda a stat junkie sometimes (Gametracker is so sweet - but may not be healthy for me!) I even had a shot at going out as the #1 ranked DM player (for the quarter) on ngstats the final time they logged them. But in the last week I tried to play through a weird glitch that affected movement, which sent me in the wrong direction and out of the top ten. To this day I wonder if I could've done it but I'll never know. I'm still curious as to where I wound up (I think the 20s) but I've never found a database for those old UT stats. I don't think I'm the greatest or anything, those numbers came from battling familiar faces on map rotations that I knew like the back of my hand. Mainly I'm in it for the chaos and fun of crazy people scrambling and shooting like there's no tomorrow.

If you haven't tried it yet you might be able to recover your data hooking the old drive up as a slave. Glad your back on the UT crack, Now grab a bag and frag..

I tried slaving the old drive but Windoze didn't want to recognize it, though BIOS did.
I may need to use 2 jumpers, the diagram shows it that way. I know I've got an extra around here somewhere. I used to take Windows server and A+ (comp repair) classes; though I got bored and didn't finish that particular degree, I still have a trick or two up my sleeve to try. I'll probably try to find a good data recovery program (anyone recommend one?) and torrent it soon. I just finished backing up most of my old slave drive, but right now I'm trying to salvage it's smaller front end partition which just quit reading correctly.

I used to have some UT server admin skills (Huey gave me admin rights to House of PaF and taught me a few tricks so I could keep the place "clean") But I think those have about rusted through by now, lol.
Do you make maps? I'd love to check em out. I had an idea for a map (TDM-MissleCommand) once but I never clicked with the unreal map editor.

As a rule I tend not to use messengers but I'll make an exception snd try to get a msn set up soon.

By chance do you know of one that makes server downloaded maps, etc, permanent?
I used to have one years ago but that hard drive also melted lol.
