The =8th= Desert Rats Batallion came about because we were bored one day and fed up of playing multiplayer games such as Call of Duty 2 as lone wolves, we decided to attempt to put together a gaming community that would stand the test of time, and hopefully this is the start of a great place to make real friends.
The clan was setup on 2nd February 2006 and has gone through quite a few upheavals to get to the position we are at now, we used to be a multi-cultural clan having members from Greece and America but after these members left it was decided that the best way forward was to become a British Only Clan - as such we only take members from the UK,

We Decided that after looking around at different gaming websites that there was a lot of the clans that just used standard ranks and are based on the American Army structure, as we are NOT an American Clan it was decided to use United Kingdom Ranks from World War 2,
These were actually debated upon for quite some time as we did not want to offend anyone who either lost a loved one during this conflict or during any other conflict where our clan name can be loosly linked too.
We are constantly striving to create a place whereby any Member can feel comfortable and are able to fit in, We are not interested in becoming the best clan around, to our Members we already are, if not why would they want to stay ?
We try our best and that is all that is asked of any Member, If we dont do well we try again and again with the good old British diehard spirit running through each and every Member.
The structure of the clan is that we have a Council of 5 high ranking members which we have called the =8th= Officers Council,
These members meet on a monthly basis and between them they decide who out of all our members deserves a Promotion - Demotion,
This is done so as to promote an active member base and also means that the members who play regular also get rewarded for their loyalty to our clan, during these meeting other things discussed are taken from our forums where we have a thread for members to post ideas etc they have regarding what else we can add to make this a more fun place to be.
The Council is responsible for ALL decisions that are made for the benefit of the clan, such as what leagues we play in, what servers we use, what games we play, who we are affiliated with and so on,
As there are 5 Council Members we are confident that we can all work together to make sure the clan goes from strength to strength and that we are not like other clans who fold and setup again under different names,
We also have AWARDS in the form of Medals which can be achieved during your time with us and are displayed on our forums as a signature, you can check out the medals and what they are awarded for from the link on the front page of our website,
NOTE:
The use of these Medals is meant in no way to detract from the galantry of the men who fought these terrible wars for real and are used as a tribute to ALL the Men who were awarded them,
It is because of these Men the world is a safer place !

We also use Teamspeak, which is a chat programme that can be downloaded from this website (see download section) this is used for all activities clanwise and is a must for all Members who join the Clan,
If you have never used it before try it- there is nothing better than hearing one of your Clan Members getting stick from another who has just wiped him out !
We know that it is a daunting prospect to join a Teamspeak where you dont know anyone - but we dont bite, we are a friendly bunch !
WE ARE HERE FOR THE LONG HAUL and are looking forward to adding new servers and possibily games in the future.
We have seen so many clans form and disband that we are NOT affiliated to any clans at present,
If this interests you as a clan we would be happy to talk to the clan leader about an affiliation, for this to happen the requesting clan will have to be a settled one and be prepared to add a link to our website and vice versa.
