Bobs Hints:10: Squad tactics.Pepper-potting.

Pepper-potting is an old Military term known as 'Fire + Movement drill' in the British armed forces and 'Bounding-Overwatch' in the American forces, also sometimes called 'Covered-Advance' or 'Leapfrogging'.

Good communication is essential for this to work smoothly. You'll need two players or two squads, I'll call them Alpha and Bravo.

First a destination is chosen (usually the nearest flag) and Alpha moves a short distance forwards then stops and checks the area ahead for enemy activity- if clear Alpha signals to Bravo to move forward while Alpha covers the route ahead. Bravo moves a similar distance ahead of Alpha then stops to cover Alphas advance. This way one team is always covering while the other is moving.
When the flag is reached one squad moves in and surrounds the flag while the other squad stays back and deals with any enemy that spawn before the flag is capped.

Bobs Hints:11: Advanced.Nadejumping 2. (Nade-Ramping)

To nadejump in a curved-Arc (like an artillery shell), simply find a slope or stairs - Drop nade at bottom using right mouse (light-tap) -
then go prone just ahead of the grenade.

Works really well on the map with temple in middle (purple-palace) that is surrounded by a moat - use one of the two sets of stairs (behind the front wall) to launch yourself clear over the moat onto the path on the other side.

Bobs Hints:12: TeamTactics: OverWatch Position (OWP)

What this means is: when attacking a flag... 1 or 2 team members nade-jump into positions overlooking the flagpoint and provide covering fire for the rest of the team while they cap the flag.

If things go badly and the team on the ground get killed then the guys in overwatch can jump-in and finish capping the flag, or they can stay in position and harass the enemy (keep them busy) until friendly ground forces can respawn and return.

The guys in OWP should be well practiced in the art of Nade-jumping (in-case back-up is far away and the enemy have spotted your position: you'll have to quickly jump to another spot).

If the whole team arrive near a flagpoint and no-one is in OWP it's best if the ground team hang-back out of sight until overwatch is set-up, when the OWP guys are in position they tell the ground team to come out of hiding and attack.

(Also- if there are two Overwatch guys: they should be in positions facing each-other on opposite sides of the flag so they can watch each-others backs and cover the others blind-spots).

Bobs Hints:13: Killing ZSU-Tower-Campers: (HamburgerHill Server only)

Just a quick one- Want to kill a pesky ZSU-tower camper? Simple, select a kit with grenades and stand on a flat bit of ground just outside the tower.
Face the tower and look up as far as you can (lean back until it can't look up anymore). while looking straight-up, postion yourself (using just feet) so your crosshair is not aiming at the walkway around the top off the tower- leave a gap of about 10mm between top-edge of tower and your crosshair.
Then gently move crosshair forward (using mouse) to leave a 5mm gap and throw grenade up......

Basically- If you can land a grenade right between his legs or just above his head... it'll kill him easy.
It is also possible to kill them by crashing aircraft onto the top of the tower but is not as reliable as nades.

[Note:As far as I know there is no way to kill the other kinds of tower weapons (rockets/tango). If anyone knows a way to do it..... please share]

Bobs Hints:14: General Helicopter Tactics.1.

Most important is Awareness: know what is around you at all times....
Use the 'Nose-Camera' this gives you a better field of view and makes other vehicles easier to hear.

Practice quickly changing-thru all of the cameras, it is tricky while flying but can give you a good impression of most directions.

Another technique for scanning around is- 'Pin-wheeling' this involves using the Tail Rudder L/R to rotate the heli 360 degrees (with a bit of practice this can be done while moving at speed).

Check your radar often! all friendly units should be visible, if you spot muzzle-flash, movement or hear a vehicle- look at the radar- if you can't see the dot - it must be the enemy!, also watch the radar for white vehicle icons appearing/disappearing away from usual spawn points- this usually means an enemy has bailed-out of a vehicle or has just got in.

Another way to spot the enemy from the air- is to watch where your team-mates are firing.

Use the landscape: Fly low-level, it only takes 2 SA-7 anti-air rockets to spoil your day! flying low will put more objects (trees, buildings, hills etc) inbetween you and the enemy.

Low-level flying has other advantages- when the enemy hear a Helicopter nearby they will usually start looking up in the sky, they probably won't be expecting an attack from ground level.

If your Heli Armour is 60% or below: go get repairs! don't wait for the next SA-7!

When waiting for Heli to respawn: do not stand in grey area of Heli-pad, this can prevent the Heli from spawning.
And respect others who are waiting - don't throw grenades at team-mates near heli-pads, the blast can cause teamkills and will cause your team to lose points (there may also be a respawn time penalty- not sure).

Bobs Hints:15: General Helicopter Tactics.2.

Don't fly alone: Before you take-off from main- wait for passengers! (especially when in a transport Heli), if in a gunship- Take a Co-Pilot/Gunner!.

If you have a Clan-mate as gunner: ask him/her to go as Engineer Class- then you'll be able to land and repair.

[Remember- when repairing on the ground, one person should always stay in the Heli! -or the enemy might see the white Heli icon on Radar]

When with gunner: try to save Rockets for Ground vehicles and entrenched/dug-in Infantry, let the gunner deal with everything else. But remember to keep the nose up!- the co-pilot has a slightly lower view than the pilot.

Here's a good trick to try: while still on the ground center an object in your crosshairs- then get the co-pilot to move his crosshair to the same spot.
If the co-pilot keeps his aim steady- the pilot can direct the bullets onto target.

Note for Co-pilots: when firing the machineguns- only fire in short bursts, this will stop the guns from overheating and will conserve ammo.

Air-Lifting vehicles: Hueys and Chinooks can Air-Lift some
* ground vehicles (and boats) using the Winch:
Hover over the vehicle (leaving a gap about the same size/height as the huey) then press and hold the right-mouse button to lower the winch, I recommend using the rear-chase-camera to get lined-up. Aim to get the end of the winch-cable roughly into the middle of the vehicle you wish to pick-up. When the cable connects you will hear a sound and a little red light in bottom-right of screen will turn green- you can now let go of right-mouse button, switch back to nose-camera and make sure to gain plenty of altitude before flying away (the extra weight will drag you down a bit).
When you want to release the cable just press right mouse button again.

Note: Players can ride inside the vehicle being carried and can fire weapons but if they try to drive fowards or backwards it will disconnect the cable.

* = Can only lift USA vehicles and the respawn crate/box. Not NVA vehicles, or planes, or other Helicopters, or Mopeds, or Artillery, or the largest tank(Patton).

Bobs Hints:16: General Helicopter Tactics.3.

The Hueys are the most mobile/agile vehicles in the game, you can reach and hold flag points or deliver troops (in transport heli's) faster than other units.

A useful tactic is to buzz the flag points: (this is especially useful when your team hold most/all the flags):
Keeping low level, fly a Patrol route between each flag point, making sure to fly close enough to each flag so that the capture flag info pops-up on screen: if some of the Bar is greyed-out- you know the enemy might be near.
It's a fast way to find the enemy before they neutralise the flag.

Or if the enemy hold nearly all the flags: fly to each flag and neutralise it, then fly to next one and repeat.
It's quicker to grey-out all the flags (to stop enemy from spawning and to stop your teams tickets counting down), then go back and fully cap them on your second fly-round.

[Special Request to all: 2 areas I won't be covering in this tips section are: Planes and Tanks. -Can somebody (with more experience than me) write some hints for one or both of these vehicles please?]
