Game no longer launches...

My game randomly stopped working. I try to launch it and steam tells me it's already open. Which of course it isn't.

I've verified integrity, restarted steam, restarted my computer. Still won't work.

Does anyone know what the problem is? I don't want to uninstall and lose all the mods and things, and find out it didn't fix it. Someone else online had this problem and reinstalling didn't work, but he also didn't post a solution.

Why are you on steam with this game?
In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, bloodshed. They produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, 500 years of democracy and peace. And what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

The reason I asked is because I had those problems with steam when playing Halflife. When this happens, you have to go to your account on the steam website and logoff. That is the reason I do not allow steam on my pc except when I play the halflife series.

Is it because you do not have the game disks or because of your hardware setup?

no the game runs without the disks, and it's not the hardware, since i've played the game plenty in the past... The only thing I did do, though, was update my graphics drivers. I haven't been able to play since. I'm not sure how to roll them back off the top of my head.

No, No--I'm sorry. I was referring to buying UT2004. I take it that you bought the game thru steam instead of the dc/dvd route.

Well I have a 10 cd version of it from like 2005, but I didn't have a way of putting it on my new computer, so I rebought it through steam, yes. But it's been working for weeks, and the first time I noticed it stopped working was after updating my AMD card drivers. Which would seem unrelated, but you never know with this stuff.

Roll back your AMD drivers and see if that helps--I would completely delete all of the video card drivers and reload those drivers..
