Who are the owners this gets discussed with, I thought DEMONSLAYER was the go to guy for this server.

Treloar,

Jefe and I are the owners of this server and Hollon and Jefe are the programers (with some input/suggestions/recommendations from me). Hollon, Ton, and Zog are admins as well.

As such, Jefe and I will discuss the issue of resurrection when we have time and we will include Hollon as well. Currently, we have other matters on our plate that we need to take care of before we start discussing your proposals.

We have not rejected your idea out of hand and I, for one, was thinking about it this afternoon and I'm sure that Jefe has some thoughts as well.
In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, bloodshed. They produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, 500 years of democracy and peace. And what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

It would be cool to have a game type that involved a boss wave at the end. On a large map with a massive boss. Have like 10 players minimum (bots for empty spaces)

Jefe and I have already addressed the issue of boss monsters on another thread and decided there would be no "boss" monsters due to several factors.

personaly i dont see a resurect with good eyes. and if it happens 1 time per map? its good if once in a while we fail a map dont you think?

I agree. If we win too often, it's boring. I don't see a problem with a short wait after dying, but at the same time I do feel that constantly waiting while others playing is also boring. Whether you have to wait or not is largely determined by your skill, your level, the map being played, and if there is a nearby base or shelter.

Treolar, one of the major reasons some servers need res is because of "easy" maps and tactics like hiding under terrain. If you can hide for a very long time where monsters can't attack you, wave time is increased because monsters can't find the player, and dead players have to wait even longer.

It's a vicious cycle, and many server admins fall prey to it, including myself. If you increase player power and longevity and add easier maps, you have to add stronger monsters to make things interesting, then you have to increase player power and longevity and add easier maps, then you have to add stronger monsters..... and eventually max stats are in the thousands. At the end of the day you're still fighting essentially the same monsters and playing the same game, just with bigger numbers, but it's a lot harder for newbies to join in and have fun. This is how "Extreme" servers become extreme servers.

You're not the first to suggest res. Our goal as always is to have a fun and challenging server, and also be unique. We have taken steps towards making wait times less tedious. But is hiding in a safe room during the tough waves more interesting than being out? Not really. And if there is almost no downside to dying the game is also less interesting. So any solution we choose has consequences.

lol. Based on what I have seen, it would be resurrection versus ghost--cannot have both.

More Suggestions:

(There's that mega-list I made on the DEK-DC Merger thread a while back for more suggestions)

1. Monsters get stuck in water. Can this be fixed? Could an artifact that summons monster to the user be created?

2. Most people don't use the bio. Why? Perhaps it is too fast . . . so maybe reduce speed by half and increase damage by double. Or maybe monsters dodge it too easily. Can the bio be made more desirable? . . . unless of course everyone just hates the bio, period.

3. Can exploding rabbit ultimas be placed on the radar? It seems unfair to walk into a room and randomly die because of a rabbit ultima that maybe a monster or someone else killed.

4. There are new monsters coming soon (wink wink). Will the adrenaline master's fireball affect the certain (wink wink) monsters in question?

5. Can there be a message for newbies to tell them to buy a class asap? Almost every newcomer I've seen doesn't buy a class. Some even leave after dying once . Maybe tell them in the DruidAgreement.

I certainly wouldn't mind lowering the firing rate and doubling the damage for the bio. Seems it could be more use that way. DEK originally had an anti-gravity grenade launcher in place of the bio.

Where's the fun in surprises! :p I think it should be more luck that you don't run into one. It gives the quick foot ability more value in running away from an ultima explosion.

Fireballs will do 2x the damage on those 'certain' monsters. But those 'certain' monsters also have 2x the health, so it's still almost evened out (but better than nothing).

The player agreement may work, though it's already a little full with the server rules. Does newly joining show the 'You have Stat Points to Spend!' message up top? For people who don't normally play RPG, that should be a clear enough message to them. Maybe we can change the color of the text in the stats menu for 'Class:' to make it standout?
