I am starting to think some kind of hax is involved, Draconyx has you all beaten.
![]() Frankly though, seeing someone about my level, level twice in a map whilst it takes me on average 5 maps is a real kick in the teeth. It's no wonder I see the server empty alot when only a few are getting huge xp and I consider myself lucky to get over 1k. ![]() |

Don't feel bad. The class is currently overpowered apparently and still needs testing. My score is pretty much a sham
![]() The Heavy Infantry subclass still needs nerfed. A lot. Used a piercing mini +7 (via crafting from magic weapon maker a few tries). ~500xp on round 1. Constant double damage nearby. CTF-Football2004 has a large football stadium for monsters to mass consistently. Kept up Holy Crap kills because of the layout. Reached around 90% weapon proficiency. Used beserk often. Ammo was a problem for the mini so I just kept using the alt fire instead. Ran out of ammo on wave 16 because I used primary fire. I suggest that proficiency should cap at about 20% for each weapon. This would force the player to consider maxing proficiency for more than one weapon. Proficiency seems to have a cascading effect as it gets higher. Because killing things is easier, you get more kills and proficiency goes up, and killing things becomes easier...and so on. Maybe have proficiency become harder to increase as the percentage increases. ![]() |

Well there is a bit of hax right now. I've added an XP bonus for Christmas, it acts like a multiplier for monster kills and damage. If you're getting a lot of kills it will increase your XP a lot. I was hoping the bonus would be better distributed though, I wasn't expecting quite *that* result.
Don't forget that the WM subclass is new and will continue to be adjusted. Dragon is a highly skilled player, he consistently outscores a lot of other players no matter what class he's playing. But I have noticed that some engineers aren't doing as well as they used to, and I have been taking some steps to ensure they do better, like increasing their vehicle/turret damage bonus. Keep in mind that Engineers tend to get a lot of their XP later in the match, when everyone has joined the base area. Also remember that if you have to rejoin, it only shows the XP you earned after you rejoined. Think about tactics as well. You have to change your play style depending on the map and and the other classes playing. A lot of players even switch to another class to adjust. If you're all alone or playing with other engineers, you can order the bots into a corner or a turret, and all the monsters will come to your base and you'll get great xp. But if it is a large map and there are a lot of players running around, you're not going to get a lot of XP because the monsters are elsewhere, being killed by the players actively seeking them. When the match begins, I suggest setting down an offensive sentinel in a high traffic area and spawning a vehicle. Make your base a bit between waves, but don't spend all your time there yet. If you're in a large map you're not going to see as many monsters coming your way unless you hunt them down. If someone announces an infinite weapon, or another good weapon, take it. Check on the other players and announce shield blasts and healing at the base. More people at your base means more monsters too. Learn the maps and find out where the powerups, ammo for your favorite weapons and hiding spots are - this will help you survive longer, do more damage and get more XP. Don't be afraid to just use your base as a fallback position. Learning how the other classes play is also incredibly helpful, so try starting a new profile as another class. EDIT: Dragon, I lowered the cap on proficiency, but level 5 seems to be just too much in conjunction with the advanced damage bonus. Both of these skills were parts of separate subclasses, and I think we need to either take it off of heavy infantry completely or lower it to level 1 or 2 so it doesn't progress so quickly leading to that 'cascade effect.'

I posted this on the server page yesterday, but not on the forums. I took off the multiplier and instead lowered the amount of xp it takes to level. This should be more fair to everyone.

I had a line of personal bests for this class, but the latest trumped them all. Was shocked really that it was that much, but the hall was a good funnel for them to come to the turret and just kept racking them up.
