...a Belly Gun!!!

How hard would it be to convert, lets say, the ball turret, to a belly gun...i.e. mounts on the ceiling instead of the floor? Even if not adopted, is it possible? What got me on this thought was the incomplete destruction of my ball when hit by red manta and the ball popped up and stayed, and continued to work. An interesting but, but got me thinking of a new way of placing the turret.

Sorry, now I know what you mean--had a different picture in mind when I saw the heading!!!!!!!!
In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, bloodshed. They produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, 500 years of democracy and peace. And what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

It could be done flak, just give the ball turret the same sort of specs as a sent and summon it on the ceiling.

It seems like a good enough idea. It's probably doable in more or less the way Treloar suggested, by taking some code from our sentinels. Sentinels and turrets are closely related (sentinels are essentially AI-operated turrets) - both are comprised of a base along with a movable upper section (even def sents, you just see the base, the upper section is tiny and hidden.) I think the main thing needed would be to tell the game to place the "upper" part below the "base" and to flip the base's mesh. But my code-fu is much, much weaker than my map-fu.

That's not to say it would work perfectly. I can guarantee that placing them in high spots WILL trigger out-of-bounds warnings, in the same way that that placing a regular turret on top of a tree or tall building would. Even placing them on the ceiling of a "normal" base would still likely trigger OOB issues, simply because OOB checks are based on how near you are to navigation points, and those are almost always placed on the ground - in fact Unreal Ed will give you error messages if path nodes are placed too high above a surface.

So basically, yeah it's feasible, we might attempt it, but upside-down turrets will trigger OOB warnings like crazy.

Just move the OOB on every map. Simple.

Can it shoot candy canes that explode into Christmas trees?
