We’re looking to completely revamp our outdated school website and make it more user-friendly for both parents and students. I’m curious what others have done recently. Did you hire an agency or go with a freelancer? Any tips or examples would be appreciated.

We redesigned ours last year, and I’d say the process depends a lot on your budget and internal resources.

For our school district, we realized the old website wasn’t cutting it anymore—too clunky, not mobile-friendly, and parents couldn’t find what they needed. After a few failed attempts with freelancers, we went with a school website design agency that specialized in education. That changed everything. They had experience working with educational institutions, understood the specific UX needs for students, teachers, and parents, and even helped us map out the content structure. Their team introduced features we didn’t even consider, like integrated calendars, teacher portals, and simplified navigation. We noticed a drop in support calls after launch, which saved us time and hassle. The process was smoother than expected, and the team really guided us through the branding and redesign phases.
