What Should I Ask When Looking for a Sexual Assault Lawyer?

Hi everyone, I’m trying to help a friend who might need legal support related to an experience that could involve allegations of sexual misconduct. This is the first time any of us have had to think about finding a lawyer for something like this, and I honestly don’t know what questions to ask or what qualities matter most.
If you’ve ever looked for a legal professional for a situation like this, what helped you feel confident in your choice? Are there specific things you asked during your first conversation that helped you decide if they were a good fit?

I completely understand how daunting it can feel to start this process, especially when it involves something sensitive and important. When someone I know needed help, what made a difference was focusing on lawyers who are experienced in the specific area of law they needed and who could explain things in a way that was clear without feeling rushed or confusing.
It’s often useful to ask about their experience with similar cases, how they communicate with clients, and what to expect step by step. Feeling heard and understood during the first meeting can give you more confidence in how you move forward.
While researching options, I looked at a few resources to understand what different legal teams emphasize. One that gave a helpful overview of practice areas and what kinds of support are offered is this page about sexual assault lawyer it helped me frame some good questions to ask and know what to expect when contacting a law firm.
