We’re getting ready for some drywall repairs in a couple of rooms, and I’m realizing I have no idea how much prep is actually expected from the homeowner. I’ve heard stories about dust everywhere and furniture getting in the way, so I want to do this right. For those who’ve already gone through drywall repairs or a renovation, what did you do ahead of time that actually helped things go smoother once the work started?

From my experience, a little prep goes a long way. We cleared out as much furniture as possible and covered what we couldn’t move, which made the crew’s job easier and protected our stuff. I also made sure there was clear access to the work areas and power outlets. When I booked the job, I found my contractor through Drywall Contractors in Fraser Valley, and they gave a simple checklist that helped set expectations. Having those details sorted beforehand kept the project moving without delays.

Any home project tends to feel less stressful when the space is organized before work begins. Creating room to move and reducing clutter often improves both efficiency and peace of mind. Small preparations can shape how smooth the entire experience feels from start to finish.
