My microwave started sparking today and it scared the life out of me. I checked three times and there is absolutely no metal or foil inside the cabin. It’s a fairly new model so I don’t want to toss it. Is this fixable or is it just a goner?

Oh man, that is definitely scary to witness! I had a similar scare with my kitchen setup a few months back. Usually, when that happens without metal being present, it is actually a damaged waveguide cover. It is that little cardboard-looking square on the side wall inside the microwave. If it gets greasy, it starts to arc and spark like crazy. I was worried about a fire, so I looked for local experts and found Major Appliance Repair https://majorappliancerepair.info/ online. Their guy came over and handled the fast in-home appliance repair right in my kitchen. He replaced the cover and cleaned the internal components for a very fair price. It was way cheaper than buying a whole new microwave.
