I’ve been running a small subcontracting business for about five years now. We’ve done well, but I’m at a crossroads. I want to bid for bigger government tenders under the Vision 2030 umbrella, but I’m worried our internal processes aren't "professional" enough yet. My current setup is basically a mix of WhatsApp groups and some very messy Google Sheets. For those of you who scaled from a small team to a large contractor, what was the "tipping point" for your infrastructure? Should I hire more admin staff, or should I invest in better tech first? I'm afraid of growing too fast and collapsing.

Whatever you do, don't just throw more people at the problem! I tried that, and it just created more communication overhead and more human errors. If you want to play in the big leagues with government contracts, you need a digital backbone that proves you can handle the complexity. You need something that handles everything from sub-contractor payments to equipment lifecycle management. There was a great deep-dive article I read recently about how specialized ERPs are driving growth for KSA contractors look here for a breakdown of why that's the better move. Digitizing first gives you the foundation to scale without the "collapse" you're worried about.

That article really put things into perspective for me; it’s time to ditch the spreadsheets!
