I’m planning to upgrade my driveway soon and can’t decide if interlocking is worth the higher upfront cost. Concrete and asphalt are cheaper, but I keep hearing that interlocking pays off over time. If you’ve done it, was the investment really worth it in terms of durability and overall look?

It usually comes down to whether you value upfront savings or long-term durability more.

I had the same hesitation about the cost, but honestly interlocking has been one of the best home upgrades I’ve made. The upfront price is higher than asphalt or concrete, but the savings over time are significant. You can check https://oakshs.ca/driveway-interlocking/ for insights into why interlocking ends up more economical. My previous concrete driveway needed patching every other year, which added up quickly. With interlocking, repairs are almost nonexistent and, if needed, very affordable since you just replace individual stones. Beyond the financial side, the look is unmatched—it makes the driveway stand out and really improves the front of the house. Friends visiting often assume I spent much more than I did because of how elegant it looks. After two winters, I’ve seen no cracks, no major shifts, and I’m confident this will last decades with minimal effort. For me, it was absolutely worth the investment.
