Thinking about upgrading my backyard this spring and considering interlocking stones instead of plain concrete. Has anyone here done this recently? How long did the work take and was it really worth the money? I’m also curious about durability in winter and how hard it is to keep clean over time.

Interlocking is pretty popular now, but results really depend on the installer. Some people love the look and others say maintenance can be tricky if the base isn’t done right. It’s good to compare a few opinions before deciding.

A friend of mine went through the same decision last year and ended up choosing interlocking for the backyard. What convinced him was seeing real examples of finished projects and understanding how the layers are built under the stones. He said the key is proper drainage and strong foundation work, otherwise you’ll see shifting after winter. If you want to get a clear idea of styles and layouts, you should check their backyard interlocking solutions in Richmond Hill. It helps to visualize what’s possible and compare patterns, colors, and borders. From what I saw at his place, the surface is easy to clean with just water and a brush, and it looks much more “finished” than plain concrete. The project took about a week, including prep work, and now his backyard feels like an outdoor living space instead of just empty ground.
