Other cheap games to play, Haunted Hells Reach, Orion: Prelude, Natural Selection 2, Left 4 Dead 2, battlefield bad company 2.

All of these games are under $5 through the 11th.

Today is really the last day to buy any of these games on sale before the LAN.

Really, it would be good to get a list of games together that are good "LAN games". Some that come to mind:

Free
Games that are 100% free.

- Open RA: open source C&C Red Alert

- Open Spades: open source minecraft-like shooter; dressed up version of "ace of spades"

- MechWarrior Living Legends: Excellent, detailed, stand-alone, MechWarrior game that runs over the shareware trial of Crysis Wars. Everything is included in the download.

- Double Action: Boogaloo: Source engine stand-alone shooter that plays like the lovechild of Action Quake 2 and The Specialists.

- Fistful of Frags: Source engine stand-alone western shooter with a wide selection of revolvers and period-correct weapons.

As free as you want it to be
Games that are free on the surface but you might have to shell out some cash to get the most out of them.

- Quake Champions: Either you love it or hate it; sometimes you do both in a single match. Mechanics are pretty good, dev changes can be frustrating. Zero investment so it's worth a shot.

- Toxikk: Good, UT-like, shooter. The free version has a major lack of content but worth a play.

I'll keep adding things as I think of them.
