Our app’s UI is this weird Frankenstein of 2015 flat design and 2025 minimalism. Customers are noticing the inconsistency, and leadership wants a fix ASAP. I’m eyeing an enterprise design system to unify everything. Any suggestions for one that plays well with existing messy codebases?

Man, I feel this one — had a side project a while back that looked like a museum exhibit of every design trend I’d ever tried. Users didn’t exactly love the “time traveler” vibe. What helped me before jumping into a system like Material or Carbon was first pinning down the brand’s actual personality, otherwise every component felt like a patch. This article got me thinking in that direction: https://www.maticdigital.com/insights/defining-your-brand-personality-is-a-strategic-move . Once the voice was clear, unifying the UI was way smoother.
