Ok I have a feeling I had a very similar problem to this, does it always say that you have however many files missing when you try to play? If so ask me about it sometime, took me ages but I found the answer

Super did you manually uninstall COD? By manually I man did you right click the COD folder and click delete? If yes here is what you do. My comp, C drive, now in explorer click on tools at the top of the window, go to folder options, then the view tab and look for show all hidden files and folders check it so it shows them. Now in C locale "InstallShield Installation Information" in this folder are a bunch of random numbered files, go through each one and open the file with the file type Configuration Settings, a note pad window will open now look at the notepad for appname=XXXXX look for the one that has cod and delete the folder you found the file in. Then the comp wont think its instaled. If that dosent work run/regedit and delete everything cod related in your registry.

Hey Superman... Sorry to see you are having problems.

Do you know anyone (close, that you can visit) that has the game installed and working on their machine? If you do then you should be able to fix it pretty easily. CoD and UO are pretty simple, they install some stuff to the windows registry, but 99% of it is meaningless.
All you need to do is

1. Copy the complete and entire install folder from the working machine

with Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer, the internet browser, more like the windows file browser, right click on 'My Computer', goto 'Explore') or something to a removable media like a flash drive, a dvd-r(w), a portable HDD, or even through a LAN directly to your computer.
It is usually in C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty, I think.

2. With Windows Explorer... copy that complete install folder from the flash, dvd-r, etc. to your machine. For example to the same location - C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty.

3. Again with Windows Explorer open the newly copied folder on your machine and make shortcuts to the CoDUOmp.exe, (and CoDUOsp.exe, CoDsp.exe and CoDmp.exe if you use them).

4. Make sure you have good video/sound/directX installed.

The game should now work in single player mode. The first time you try multi-player it will ask for your cd key (which is the only important thing it stores in the windows registry) and then it should work like it did when it was new.

Making shortcuts is simple. In Windows Explorer right click on the file, select copy. Goto your desktop (or where ever) right click again and select 'paste shortcut'.

Long and short.. Copy the entire folder by any means necessary from a working machine to a machine that has been corrupted (or never even had the game installed before)... Make the shortcuts and enter the cd key the first time you use MP...

It works great. I installed/transferred like that for years because the install, upgrades, install and upgrade process was tedious.

Hope it helps.
RD
