For those of you who haven't heard the sad news, World War 2 Hero, Major Richard Winters passed away Jan 2nd. Richard Winters was an extraordinary humble man. Taking the leadership role of commanding Company E, 2nd battalion, 506th regiment of 101'st Airborne division, Winter's lead his men with the up-most valor, and was awarded the 2nd highest military medal, the Distinguished Service Cross. Although he detested the notion, Winters is also under consideration for the most rare and highly considered medal by the U.S military, the Congressional Medal Of Honor.
Sadly many of our members of the U.S military during that time period are passing away, it is not long before we will loose all of our "greatest generation." http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/01/10/obit.dick.winters/ ![]() |
