every now and then I see a good deal from newegg.com, which is both high-powered and very affordable. Since there are alot of you guys interested in seeing how cheap you can get a computer for, I'll post it for ya.
INCLUDED: -480 Watt power supply (PSU) -MSI AMD motherboard with ATI Radeon 3000 onboard (1x PCI Express 2.0 x16, 1x PCI) (MOBO) -AMD Anthon II x4 QUAD-CORE 3.1GHZ processor (CPU) -4GB DDR3 1333 (RAM) -500GB 6.0Gb/s 7200-RPM SATA Hard drive (HDD) -LOGISYS ATX computer tower (Case) -Thermaltake CPU Cooler (Fan) PRICE $300 You'd have to consider buying thermal-grease into the price if you don't have some(to secure fan to the CPU[No...you can't do without it]) If you had a decent video card, you could knock it out of the park for $300! That's a really fast computer! (Make sure you know how to safely assemble a computer, or have someone who can!) http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.829751&cm_sp=DailyDeal-_-829751-_-Combo ![]() |

An PCI videocard is definitely a must, otherwise its pretty worthless to play games with. A ATI 6850 is a good bang for the buck card with some decent performance.

unknown-nl wrote: I think you have misspoken... You need a PCI-E or PCI Express (same thing). PCI is old, dating to around 1990. From there it went to PCI-x, AGP, and now the standard is PCI-E(xpress). Not trying to be a jerk, just didn't want anyone to waste money on a 22 year old standard by accident. ![]() |

Pros- 4 core processor, Radeon 4250 onboard graphics, has a PCi Express, 500watt psu. Cons- small hard drive, onboard graphics. Overall- great for those on a budget, and is very upgradeable. |

When you're looking at AMD processors you want to make sure they have a L3 cash. As far as I know they were not produces until the Phenom II which wont run much more expensive. The cash helps the processor process more information at one time which is very important when it comes to all the information being tossed around while running a high end game. It's kinda of like super ram just for your processor.

Oh yeah guys - consider that these systems are barebone. They don't come with an operating system(i.e. windows 7). So make sure you already have something lined up before considering their prices

If anyone is looking at getting a better computer that can easily be upgraded I am selling half of my computer. I am selling the motherboard, RAM, and processor.
Its all Intel based (I won't buy anything AMD based) and I will give a great deal. I have an Intel Core 2 Duo 3.00ghz 6mb cache, an ASUS motherboard with pci-express slot, and 4 gb ddr2 800 mghz RAM. The Core 2 Duo has been the most reputable processor to date. With low energy usage and incredible stable overclocking (I had it at 3.6 ghz never went over 55 C under heavy load) it outperforms the Quad core and coming close to the I5 and I7. I really wouldn't waste money on the items listed above. Unless all you plan on playing is UO and LoL that is all very low profile equipment. Anyone intersted pm me. ![]() |

First set of benchmarks:http://www.frostytech.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=2549&page=14
Second: http://www.frostytech.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=2549&page=4 Third: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/CPU/2 I am sorry Impos, but the AMD Athlon X4 II doesn't even compare to the Core 2 Duo. And its only $40 cheaper. ![]() |
