We're going to be moving to the v1.2 live version of the mod for several reasons. Chiefly, I have spoken with the developers and they are not doing a character wipe on v1.2 when they roll over to v1.3 (when it's done of course). The won't however, be able to keep our v1.3 beta accounts around for reasonable reasons. If you want to know what these reasons are, just ask me and I'll inform you to the best of my abilities. While we wait for v1.3, we will go to v1.2 (which we almost ran from the beginning anyway) because then our work won't be erased when v1.3 is live.
All in all, it will be much more fun in my opinion to get to participate in the human community aspect of this game that we have only tried on micro scale so far when we go on a server with PEOPLE on it. The v1.3 was too "ghost town-y" for my tastes anyway. The following is the instructions on how to install the game, then the mod manager and then the Mod. *****Please follow the instructions closely and read the instructions in their entirety FIRST to prevent crashes in-game***** Files you will need to download: The original game: http://www.filefront.com/16116927/FreeLancerPlatform.zip The mod: Live release v1.2: http://www.freelancer-shatteredworlds.com/Mod/SWWT_Client_Version1.2_23Mar09.zip.flmod Version 1.3beta: http://www.freelancer-swwt.com/Mod/SWWT_Version1.3_Client.msi The other tools needed to install: http://www.filefront.com/16107407/FLModManagerAndPatch.zip/ 1. Extract and Install freelancer from the freelancerplatform.zip It is highly recommended that you keep a copy of the install around. 2. Rename the ...\freelancer\ game folder where you installed the game to ...\SWWT\ NOTE: you may duplicate the freelancer folder and rename one to SWWT if you want a copy of freelancer for a different mod, or just have a clean copy. - This is because this mod does not play well with others so we want it to be completely separate from other mods/installs of the game. 3. From the FLModManagerAndPatch.zip download, extract and run the quick fix patcher (quickfix-1.0c.exe) on the copy of the game that is in the SWWT directory. 4. From the FLModManagerAndPatch.zip download, extract and run the flmminstaller.exe to install the FreeLancerModManager v1.31 5. Run the SWWT_Client_Version1.2_23Mar09.zip.flmod by double-clicking it. 6. Run the FreeLancerModManager program and select the Options->Choose a different Freelancer directory and point it toward your ...\SWWT\ game directory 7. Choose the Shattered worlds: War Torn mod from the list in the mod manager and click [Activate Mod] NOTE: This will take up to 5 minutes on a modern computer and might even say it is (not responding) but DON'T CANCEL IT! 8. Once the mod is activated, find the ...\SWWT\EXE\Freelancer.exe file. Right-click and choose properties. Then go to the compatibility tab and run the game in compatibility mode for XP service pack 2. If it only says XP, choose that one. 9. Finally, right-click on ...\SWWT\EXE\Freelancer.exe and select Send To-> desktop to make a shortcut. Then find that shortcut and right-click on it and go to properties and change the [target:] field adding the direct connect ip parameter -s69.162.85.218:2302. My target and start in info (respectively) are: Target: "L:\games\SWWT\EXE\Freelancer.exe" -s69.162.85.218:2302 and Start in: L:\games\SWWT\EXE Now the game should work like a charm from the shortcut. The server is the only one that shows up in game in the Shattered worlds-> Lan menu. It is highly recommended that you read all three of the PDFs in the ...\SWWT\README\ folder that have either 'rules' or 'roleplay' in the names.
