I had a members ask me if he could give our Vent info to his brother who is serving in Afghanistan because they are having problems communicating with each other. Of course I told him yes. I also thought it would be nice if we could supply these men and women with a vent sever of their own which they can use to chat with their family and friends anytime they want.
If you know anyone serving overseas, please feel free to copy and paste the info below and email it to them and let them share it with their friends as well.
This server was set up on the public Vent. If you see anyone in the Overseas or private channels, please leave them be.
..................................................................
If you are new to vent, follow these instructions

Go to: http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php
Download, install and set up Ventrilo.
Download this version: Windows i386 - 32bit (Version 3.0.1) - or the Mac version when appropriate.

Once you have downloaded vent:

1) Open the vent program and click on the right arrow (>) next to User Name. Select New and type in your in your name. Then click “OK”
2) Next: Click the right arrow (>) to the right of Server and enter a Server Name, example: “DDD Overseas”
Then click OK
3)Next: enter the IP address and the port and hit OK. As shown below
Server Name: DDD Overseas
Host name or IP: 72.51.60.188
Port: 4304

Then Hit the “Connect” icon and you’re on vent. If you have any problems, someone will help you out once you get on vent. There is also a tutorial on the Ventrilo download page if you need further assistance.

You will find a channel called "Afghanistan Soldiers and Family" Where you can chat with anyone and everyone. You can also "click and drag" yourself into any of the private channels below. Feel free to chat with the folks on the upper channel (DDD|Ventrilo). These are people playing Battlefield Bad Company2, an on-line multiplayer game. they would be more than happy to chat with you.

Please forward this email to any family members and friends you wish to chat with.
If there's anything I do to help, please email me at ddd.geronimo@yahoo.com

Thank you for all you do for our country.

That is a genuine thing to do. Doing two tours overseas makes me constantly think about our brothers and sisters that continue to run missions. May the troops and their family members remain blessed.

thats a really awesome thing to do Geronimo, i have had family and friends serve in Iraq and if people like you would have stepped forward and done something like this back then i would have loved you forever.. The phones they have really suck and I lost connection with family tons of times, whether it was my phone or theirs.. it really would have been a lot better knowing i could have just hoped in a vent server and had no problems. I will pass this info on to my brother whos over there right now and let him know. Im sure he will really appreciate this. Thanks a TON!
