A very contentious issue, as I hope some of us have learned from the infamous forum thread on Mart's Dirty Den [Deceased] arguments about 'Botlike players' can get very heated. But come on, why do people do it? Can they not see that it has ruined online gaming? It seems to me that there is an attitude among some people that everyone who powns them must be a bot, and quite literally 'if you can't beat them join them'. One player who frequents this server is well known for using a bot on other servers. Does he not realise that his reputation has preceeded him? It is unlikely that he will ever get any credit for his skills, I actually think he's a half decent player.

It's a joke, no regular player used anything at Marts or did they??
You should get anticheat installed Tarty and put an end to it:-) This was done at another server I frequent and it's interesting that some can't seem to connect anymore...

I'm just glad you are running this server and hope that everything goes to plan (it would be nice to see the occasional appearance of Mart too).

Hi Fishbreath, thanks for your input. I'll think about the anticheat, but it will never be mandatory for all players (maybe for some players if they continue to be naughty). Just so there's no confusion, I'm not accusing any of the old Mart's regulars of cheating even though I'm fully aware that some people are a bit suspicious. The person I am thinking of is one of the newer additions to our little community [ewww I'm going to puke LOL]. It is only a game and quite honestly I'd rather spend my time refining the server's gameplay and playing Q2 myself than imposing Draconian anticheat measures like on some other servers.
