Guys, I want to make a few things clear.
FIRST and foremost, I'm just the server(s) owner. Jake is the guy who is managing the day to day stuff with the servers. For that, I thank him profusely for doing a great job keeping things in order. It isn't easy. Admins... I've gotten lots of requests from folks to add them as an admin. We lagged in this area for awhile as I was the holdup to adding more admins. Too many admins adds to chaos. Too little admins adds to chaos. Trust me, I've been doing this for many years now. The admins we currently have are mature, hell some of them are old! Just kidding. But the maturity helps folks rise above folks who call names, get upset, etc. Because of our current admin base, the server is more reliable to cull rule breakers and there isn't pettiness with regard to folks getting kicked for no reason. The integrity of admins is at the highest level I've seen ever. Keep this in mind for the next part. But before I move on, no one needs to ask if they can be an admin. We know who will make a good admin and those we wouldn't ask. If we need more admins, we will specifically ask folks. You don't have to worry about a point system, how many hours you play, how good you are. You don't even need to fill out an application or offer to help Jake pay for Landon's college fund. J Just come on, play by the rules, be cool, welcome folks, etc. We notice those folks who we believe would be good admins. Those folks that have been asked so far to be admins, I don't think there have been any regrets. Well, there is Scoy. I'm absolutely kidding. I love ya Scoy. Don't dance around the rules... The biggest complaint I hear from admins is that folks try to take advantage of the rules. I don't agree with it, but camping is allowed. I've been adamant about this. For some folks it is a strategy; just not one that I employ. That being said, SPAWN CAMPING is NOT. I'm not going to break this down any further. Those who have been testing the system know who you are. I have explained in a separate post my take on what spawncamping is as has Jake. Remember admin integrity and maturity comment from above? Admns are not quick to kick folks off. Many of us have been playing together now for quite some time. It isn't easy to kick, or temp ban or perm ban anyone that we know. Therefore, there is a tendency to let folks slide who are pretty much breaking the rules. And by that, I mean spawncamping. I have a hard time doing it myself and I'm a hard ass. Imagine what it's like for the other admins to see things occurring they believe are in violation of the rules. So, I'll get to the point.... Don't give an admin any reason to have to warn you or kick you. There's no need. The majority of the players on the server are regulars and, consequently, know what's allowed and not allowed on the server. If an admin calls you out, it's because you deserve it. DR’s DR has good leadership and good members. I’m in DR. However, if you wear the tags, then you represent DR. Remember the integrity thing? Wear the tags with integrity. If not, take them off. It’s simple, Enough said. Thank you…. Thank you to the admins, the regulars and the wayward players who drift on. We’ve got a good group of regulars and I enjoy playing with you. I don’t like to get beaten by you, which is usually the norm, but I your company nonetheless. Thanks again and I’ll see you on-line soon. |
