| New Year, New Changes, and New Ideas? |

From the few of us here at wD, we hope that you all had a great holiday season filled with happiness and joy. We wish for everyone to have a great and successful year in 2009. Happy New Year! A week ago on December 23rd, 2008, we started our first new event to help bring in more members. We got a good start, and with over 30 new members registered, but it kinda slowed down towards the end. No biggie, we're on our way to become a much bigger community. Now the hard part is keeping those new members active. This year sure was fun (All 2 months! Whoo!), but there is one thing in particular that I wish to see improved in 2009. There are a lot of people who play on the server regularly, but only a handful choose to participate in forum activity. In addition, the forum activity that has been thriving recently leaves much to be desired. The most common activity has been useless replies in threads just berating another user for stupid reasons, turning every topic into an off topic discussion, trying to find unintentional sexual innuendos in every topic for a stupid joke, and much more. I wish to see an increase in forum activity by all users, both new and current players. Seems reasonable, no? Time for the wonderful new changes to wD! I'd like to firstly thank the members who chose to vote for what they wanted in their new server. With our new Iceworld DM underway, I'm hoping we can gather a more diverse community and spread our horizon further from only CS:S. (TF2 as well maybe? Someday..) I've finally finished setting up the new server with deathmatch, noblock and added it to our Global Ban system. We're starting with 14 max players and seeing how well it does first. If upgrades are needed, then they will be purchased. Oh yes, one more thing, this won't be our only new server for the year, we already have another freshly wrapped server, all ready to go. We'll make another server poll soon enough. ;] There will be a few other matters of possible change sometime later in the future, but I won't bother you with the details as of yet. I'll slowly post topics to get your feedback before any major changes take place. Also the website could undergo a little makeover, but that's not of great importance. Ah yes, now for what you've all been waiting for. The promotions of '09! Congratulations to whoever made it, and don't fright if you can't find your name. There's still lots of opportunities for you guys to get recognized on the server, forums and vent. [ wD - wDs ] wDs. Ch|ken* wDs.
