i'd like to start visiting some of the central-Europe's capitals and nice medieval cityes (Budapest, Vienna, Prague...). not by car, but by train. i never travelled by train outside my country. some advice? not so high budget: trains, hotels, hostels, etc.

Paris and Poland for me. Sometime, I would like the Trans-Siberian express too.

I want to see how everything gradually changes from Moscow to Beijing, in terms of landscape, people, customs, language... But I think it's terribly expensive so we'll see =)
Did you do it before?

No:) And i'm happy that i dont need to! I explain why. I live in Moscow now, but my home is 2500 kilometres south, not far from south borded of country. It tooks about 40 hours to get there by train. And it's toooo boring and toooo long. I prefer 2.5 hours by airplane despite that fact that airplane tickets are about 3 times expenisve.
Traveling by train is very monotonous. You won't see towns, people, interesting places or landscapes in-between destinations, cause there are extremely large unsettled locations and railways lay far from anything. All the way there are only meadows and steppe (days long without changes) if travel south and endless woods if go east. Trans-siberian railway is the most boring thing in world. 5 days of the same looking forest behind window! And russians trains - you know, not realy most comfortable:) When i think of 5-6 days on the train... oh boy! It's frightful!
Traveling form city to city by plane imho much better, but of course expensive.
