Your brush work is $&"/(*§(§(*% terrible. I am not going to fix it this time, it's just some damn ungrateful work that wouldn't occur if you did it right from the beginning. If touching one brush gets you a lot of holes into the map, then it's just no fun.

Probably the map doesn't even want to let me optimize it. :rolleyes:
You set up some ZonePortals, but I deleted them now because most of them simply didn't work, there were so many leaking zones that it would simply create more processing strain than helping the performance.

CGV is not a good idea in this map, the map is too fate.
Good choice for the vehiculs, may be some funniest vehiculs can be added.

Ryo, The 3 superweapons (CGV and 2 ehanced deemers are on the top, but it takes really much time to get them (at least 2 min, so it's a way to lose ur time :p)

Optimizing this map would be nice, Crusha. If VK agreed, do it please, suddenly appearing containters aren't quite perfect.

sooo... we did a +30mins match today with about 8 players...

first of all - it is very easy to get to the enhanced redeemer and vortex, it does not take a long time, it doesn't take any skill (shield jump or stuff) and - worst of all - you can get them ALL on one line.

secondly - arbalest needs to go. when being driven into a sweet hiding spot, it can shoot down nodes and players in almost no time without being hit at all. cobra and fire tank are already enough (and quite spammy theirselves)

thirdly - i know it was my idea with the cobra but wow is that a spammy scorewhore thing! i got almost 50 in 1min when we lost all nodes and shot down enemies when they were trying to build our primaries - until (you may have guessed it already) I've been killed by an arbalest... -.-

4. - i wasn't sure about the dragon and phoenix - but there are quick to shoot down (one is slow, the other weakly armored) that's why i think they are okay.

5. - please increase the width of the middle-node platform... when building it and getting attacked - one dodge move gets you down all the way - and when u don't dodge, u die...

6. good players get WICKED high scores here, even more than on sektor9. proof:

I never played any version of this map, and the last time I played on the server was on the 10th of July but by the looks, this server will become officially a spamserver if there will be a third one =/

One should seriously give VK a kick into his ass for placing brushes so incredibly off grid.

And now there is one brush which successfully crashes the editor on every BSP rebuild and of course the editor can't tell me which brush it is.
The only thing I could get from the log file was, that it crashes after it tried to build a brush with 31 polygons into 30 nodes, what obviously doesn't work. Every other builded brushes have identical poly-node counts.

However, that tells me that it must be a bit more complex brush with about 31 sides, I am now making a safe copy of the current progress on the map and then radically delete many brushes which could be suspicious and test if it still crashes. If it does, then I will delete even more…

And VK, for the future:
-never rotate a brush, or use at least the Vertex-Tool afterwards to snap them back to grid. Rotating almost always causes the vertices to go off grid.
-stop using so darn many brushes for a room that could simply be shaped by one big version of the existing brushes if you don't use any different textures at that place anyway.
-turn propriate brushes into semi-solids.
-learn to use the BSP-cut/zone view of the editor to recognize problematic areas and to see if your zone portals actually worked.


Now I spent the whole day on this map already. -.-

Thanks God we got an experienced guy like Crusha to fix the errors of others. Let's hope you would never pay for it.

Ok, I could fix the map up and it's fine now in FPS and everything. Now I wanted to make the pit a bit more interesting.

First I put a huge sea of blood down there.

Then I planned to add rotating saw blades:


But that would mean 36000 additional rotating polygons. I didn't want to force anyone to render that, even though it worked fine for me.


Instead I stayed with the blood lake and added some waterfalls of blood. But I needed to create some visual movement on the StaticMeshes, so I painted some black stripes and panned them along the texture. Well, unfortunately the Combiner didn't like the Cubemap on the original blood texture (the one from the lake) and so I had to remove the specular part completely. But now it looks too cartoonic to me, I see what can be done about it.

It's an interresting idea, but the current huge and hard empty hole looks more dangerous and scary than some fluid. The blades are a bit pathetic imo. Some barrels and radioactive splashes might be better.

He probably worked very hard on this map .

Otherwise, I found when I played for the first time enhanced deemers and CGV, But VK call me about a "new super weapon"... Unless I didn't undersootd everything XD .
Yesterday, I dreamed of a bird and a potato chips which meet and played bowling.

Not I have fun!
