I use this thread to point to something (don't use it for mapping yet, it's not final).

Prepare for unforeseen consequences in ONS history because the Worm caused a rift in time-space continuum and created a PowerNode that can be taken at any time and is not part of the rest of the Linksetup.

This is what I wanted to get here for so long, now we can get 1:1-remakes of UT3 maps, with all the features that are available there.

It's a conversion of WAR-Downtown to ONS. Sanchez turned the whole BSP of the original into a huge StaticMesh and then built the BSP by hand in UT2k4 along that StaticMesh. Then he passed the map to me and I added all other StaticMeshes, Lights, NavigationPoints and what else is required in a map. I like the result, was even tested already in a kind of "closed beta" during the Titan ONS Night and even the Titans liked it, although it was from UT3.

I used some meshes and textures from UT3 and nonetheless is the map running smooth with about 100 fps on my PC.

Haha, even the Titans like it... I'm afraid it can be too standard for most of the players. No new vehicles have been used except the EONS stuff I guess, right? If you're in touch with Sanchez, try to show him current weaponry possibilities. The maps looks tasty anyway.

I will make this a 1:1 portation of the original (except some locker improvements), no change in vehicle loadout.

And I guess the Titans liked it because it was the first time some of them (including Piggy) boosted around in the EONS Scorp and found some places to fly high through the air.

Something strange happened to me yesterday.. I was trying to create a slightly more powerful Goliath for Downtown to make the Tank Node more important. I really didn't tweak much about the projectile itself, but somehow I managed to create a projectile that doesn't explode on impact but just stays where it hit something. The result looks like this (notice those rainbow-coloured glows on the left?):



And this is the UFO I've been working on, though I will still add some laser gun infront of the driver.

Nice, very nice. I hope you won't fix the playability issues in different way than adding new nodes. Even the Mino can't save the map.

Maybe you won't believe it, but there is no reasonable space left for Nodes in the map. It doesn't make any sense to put them north of the core areas because that would be too close and that area is not meant to be played in after all.

The center would be crazy and distracting too. Not even mentioning that it would lack reasonable links from there to other Nodes.

Map stays like that for now and we will see what change the deployables will bring. Until then will I just increase the importance of the Goliath a bit and add an IonPainter.

Sanchez also likes the vehicle layout with EONS as it's currently.

And errr, the side view of that UFO looks a bit like a Manta ... or is it shown for comparison purposes?
