Has it ever happened to you that all of a sudden you fall through the floor of a map? It's happened to me on Grits (the desert map) and Ascendancy. I have a screenshot of it on my profile page.
What can be done about it? Maybe Satan wants me so much that he drags me down from time to time. If so, then Satan is g@y, he should leave me alone when I'm playing a game. |

Happens to me in only very, very, very rare cases. Mostly when I am falling down a very steep slope.
I guess it has something to do with either your computing power or the lag at the moment when you should hit the ground. The server doesn't get any information about your position at that time and also can't send you the information were you are. So the server and your PC are computing your position independent from each other. When the informations rejoin, then there is probably some difference about the data and you fell trough the map. Maybe the heightmap is also not quite exact at that point, depends on the map. And the position of at least karma-objects is calculated using the heightmap. ![]() |

Once it happened to me on Valarna: I went fast with a badger and got out for a node and I somehow fell, and I shielded below me, and I could walk and the map was high above me and I told the spectators to spectate this.

Happens on MinusTMU sometimes too, on the path between each base's middle and left primary. Even tanks can partly sink below ground there. Guess there's a component of this problem that has to do with how the specific map was put together in the editor, otherwise we'd be seeing this in similar proportions on all maps.

One possible cause are BSP holes:

lilalurl wrote: Nah, they would be noticed. The invisible blocking BSP-holes can throw a shadow on the ground when they are big enough, or you just notice them by getting stuck in a certain area, but not at exactly the same place all the time. BSP-holes in BSP are either holes, a HOM-effect or not or wrong drawn geometry. BSP-holes on Terrain are big, dark shadows. They kill players that go by foot instantly and cause on a Manta the effect, that the Manta doesn't "push" itself off the ground and just slide directly over that place. ![]() |

I fall thru the floor on deserted sands or painted desert (i always confuse with this desert maps name), big map with big straight river in the middle. I float under ground and could even shoot players and nodes. It was fun to shoot guys that ran in panic tryin to determine threat source ))
