Which good modifications do you know?
I just found those a few weeks ago: Project: Alpha Three and Conflict: Alpha Three, which is the sequel. It's a singleplayer-modification that is a mix between the old Unreal and a bit of Stalker. And of course Deathball, although I was never able to play it with human players. ![]() And I tried out Chase the Chicken once, but it couldn't hold me very long… ![]()

I believe that especially in UT2004, the notion of modification is quite wide.
For instance, the Trials maps and Hellbender/Scorpion racing maps could in my eyes be considered modifications since they don't really follow the traditional Assault model. 3SPN TAM/Freon could come to my mind too. I highly advise CTF4 too (especially in Instabig). http://ctf4.apartment167.com/ Gem Feeder is quite interesting: http://www.third-helix.com/gemfeeder.html#overview As for total conversions, you might want to give a look at Alien Swarm if you like Alien Breed/Shadowgrounds gameplay. Playable offline with AI but maybe if enough are interested we could try and play online (last time I checked there were still some servers up): http://www.blackcatgames.com/asv1/index

Actually, this seems to be an idea all of your own, but it's valid enough to discuss IMO.
Btw, I've been considering suggesting something in a similar vein to that as well regarding trying new things/themes on the server, with October just around the corner. I figure, TechCom's all grown up now, confident of itself and with a decent crowd around it, I don't see why we can't try the occasional experiment like Omni and the Titan's have been doing and see if it makes things more interesting than plain, old ONS. If not, we always have that to fall back on anyway. Still, it's probably a better idea to leave the original topic here (about highlighting UT2k4 mods/total conversions) on track and move this to the Server forum instead. Guess I'll go start a fresh thread up then... |

There was a time when Ballerburg ran CTF4 (and Air Buccaneer too I believe):
http://ut2004.titaninternet.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=199760&postcount=18 Maybe one of their compatriots could convince them to put it back and/or other mods: http://dieballerburg.bplaced.net/ Now, where could we find some German dude... I wonder.... |

Well, I don't really want to register there and I don't think that they would put something back after such a long time just because someone asks for it.
What is this CTF4 actually? I didn't find a real description of the game on the page. ![]() |

So I looked through YT and google for some interesting CTF4 vids, but found very few convincing evidence. Got any links to better vids I might've missed, lila?
Btw, is there an ONS4 mod too? That might agree better with the TechCom masses. |

pegasus_ wrote: What do you mean by convincing? That it exists? That it works? Trust me it does. Just download, install and play. Maybe you are wondering how it works thinking it runs on normal CTF maps. Actually, the maps are made specially for CTF4. Often, remakes based on successful CTF maps. That it is fun? For me it is. You'll have to try to make your own opinion. I usually play with xloc disabled and no flag return (you have to carry your flag back to your base if it was stolen but you manage to kill the stealer. And ofc, you cannot score without your flag) + instagib most of the time. So imagine playing the CTF4 version of Face (imagine Face and add the same thing after a 90° rotation so you have a sort of cross shape with a base at each end of a branch), with 4-player teams (4*4). Your flag is stolen while you are not around (trying to steal another flag or respawning). You manage to kill the stealer while he is around the central area. You head for your flag. You grab it. You start heading back to your base. But then, you are killed by a bot from one of the other teams (not necessarily the stealer's). Usually, a mayhem starts and lasts several minutes, with a lot of killing in the area. In such a case, when it is not your flag that was stolen, you can try to quietly steal one of the two other flags (not yours nor the one that is heavily disputed), although it often fails. As for ONS4, as far as I know, it does not exist. There were some discussions, but nothing was made: http://forums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=454130 http://ut2004.titaninternet.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=13080 Anyway, you can already play some 4 teams ONS: vote for a TMU map. You will then have blue campers, red campers and red and blue players trying to do useful things. I am not sure who is versus who though.:D |
