The Golden Sidewinders 96th Division (GS96) is Online PC Gaming Community founded in June 2009. Our primary mission is the following: Provide an environment for older gamers who show maturity & respect for other gamers no matter what their skill level may be. GS96 was founded by older gamers to be a place for older gamers to make good relationships with other members while playing the games we love. We are not interested in 'drama' but we are interested in good times together. • Majority of GS96 members are over the age of 30. We have many in their 40s, 50s, 60s and Badaboom1942 who is 71 years old. • We accept those over the age of 21 years old but they must show the maturity & respect to fit in with those older in GS96. • We respect all gamers no matter their skill levels. We have many highly skilled members along with those new to PC gaming. • We have opportunities for members to be involved in the GS96 operations. The more they are involved the more opportunities are made available. • We strive to have a good time & fun while playing all the games we enjoy. GS96 also has several members who are Christians. While GS96 is not a Christian clan it does support those members as well as proudly supports its friends at 'Body of Christ Gaming' and 'Christian Soldiers 7th Division'. For more information about GS96 please check out our website: http://www.gs96gaming.com ----- The start of the Golden Sidewinders 96th Division (GS96) began in the later part of 2008. Our core members, who are all over the age of 30 except for one individual, met while playing 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare'. We were playing on a server that played the map 'Overgrown' only. Over the next several months, the core members began relationships only by using the in-game text messaging. In June 2009, SixxStar decided to purchase his own server and start the GS96 team. He began by recruiting the core members from the friendships made on that ‘Overgrown’ server: 2nd75thRanger Alex! Badaboom Black Mamba Huck Finn Hype! LARRY Ledman sNaKe Starting with just one server we quickly grew to three servers. In addition, over our first year we added new members that were key figures in our continuing success: ArthurK73 DanMan DrFeelgood LoganK96 Rom6:23 Sixfeet Sniper SpEcTeR Woodywood We started using the XFIRE Chat Room system to talk within the game. But then we purchased our own Ventrilo server only to change to a TeamSpeak3 server for better quality. We then met and made good friends from the ‘Dumb A** Rednecks’ (DAR) clan. Both DAR and GS96 have done some friendly clan matches together along with exchanging information (like Ban Lists). Still to this day, GS96 values its friendship with DAR and are welcomed on each others servers. In 2010, we slowly left ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’ and launched into ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’ and ‘Battlefield: Bad Company 2’. Our time in ‘Battlefield: Bad Company 2’ was short lived but we stuck with ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’. In late 2010, we launched into ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ with the purchase of five ranked servers. In 2011, we added several new members within ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’, started a Competitive Scrimmage team and purchased an unranked server for scrimmage matches. We returned back to ‘Battlefield: Bad Company 2' in late 2011 to prepare for the release of 'Battlefield3'. In 2012, we continued operating in ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’, 'Battlefield 3' and 'Modern Warfare 3' gaining new members for all those games. In September 2012, we prepared for the Fall season with what PC Gaming has to offer. We look forward to the new map packs for 'Battlefield 3', the release of 'Black Ops2' and new releases of 'Day Z' and 'War Z'. Our members raised over $1,000 in one months time which is more than enough to pay for all our servers for the next six months. In January 2013, we launched into Planetside 2. At this point we are involved in 'Battlefield 3', 'Black Ops 2', 'DayZ' and 'Planetside 2' along with numerous other games that our members play. In January 2014, we have returned back to 'Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare' by getting two new servers. We are now involved with Arma 3, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty (MW/Black Ops/Ghosts) and Minecraft. |
