My god, it's spreading like wildfire. Anywho, MW2 had better have watermelons.... and I better be able to shoot them...

I will most likely get the game too, I really just wanted to rant and get it all out to have it out. Sure maybe there won't be dedicated servers or such, but that doesn't mean I won't enjoy the game as a game, hell, those Spec-Ops videos I looked at made it seem incredible!

I guess I can't relate blind, not having to set stuff like that up, so maybe everyone might be over reacting, as there are two views to this: The player and the coder.

Whatever, I'll still get it, enjoy it while all this plays out.

So.....

From everything I read on the forums out there the game play will be P2P... which in all likelihood would truly suck given that most folks have crappy bandwidth. Still it's hard for me to believe that this could be a total disaster for PC gamers but....

I just don't see Activision or IW being that dumb or greedy to put out something so far below what they offer with their current games.... we'll see I guess.

My prediction of the first few weeks of play on IW.NET:

You enter the console and there is constant spam from 5 or 6 - 10 year olds talking about poopie and boobies. Oh and a lot of "zzzzzzzz" posts.

To escape the mindless chatter of the lobby, you click on the match button and are whisked to a room where the average ping is 296. Yours is, of course, under 28 so you can't seem to hit anyone with your gun although you fire entire clips at them point-blank. You begin to notice that much of the mindless chatter about boobies and poopie that you escaped from the lobby is now being spammed in the particular room that you are in as well. So are lot of "zzzzzzz" posts.

You start playing the game and you are killed 14 times before you can spawn by either a lagger or a hacker and because there is no effective 1st person spectating, you can't tell which. It wouldn't matter even if you could because there is no administrator to point out the problem out too.

When you attemt to vote kick him, he changes names to mirror your name and all of the 10 year olds in the room giggle and post wildly about poopie.

After suffering through 5 minutes of hacks and/or lag kills, you call for a vote kick again, but the 10 year olds in the room laugh and that, and, while giggling wildly, post about boobies and spam "zzzzzzzzzz" across the screen.

After returning to the lobby for more spammage, you repeat the same scene in about 7 or 8 other rooms. Once friends from the clan get online, you create a closed room to play. Everytime you open the room to others, you get discussions of poopie and boobies and spamming "zzzzzzzz" messages so you ultimately confine access to your room to clan members only.

After 2 weeks of playing essentially the same match over and over, and sporadic trips to the lobby were there are endless poopie/boobie/"zzzzzzz" messages, you loose interest in MW2 and go back to a dedicated server running WAW or COD4.

In reality, I'm sure it will all work out. With the changes made by IW though, I just can't get excited enough to rush through my computer project in the next 11 days. I have no desire to struggle with the game on my old Dell. So, I'll see you guys on-line when I get around to completing my project. probably in a month or so. By that time, I hope there has been a patch that provides for dedicated servers.

I believe you are under estimating greed. It's out there. Just look at the current economic situation. It's a result of plain simple greed. Financial institutions, Investment advisers, Wall Street. Most Major companies. Everyday there's something in the news about it, Remember Enron. Greed usually ends up with "dumb" ideas and decisions. I'll say it again the only way companies listen is with their profit margin. Let them not realize their expected profits and change will happen. Instead of signing a petition I got a refund on my pre-buy. If everyone who per-ordered their PC game copy Activision/Infinity Ward they would take note a re-think their marketing strategy.
