One of those is actually an air cooled pc lots of large heatsinks and fans. I'm sure what you are describing is possible, just have to arrange the fans properly.... plenty of pc fans out there you could simply add one to the top of the case to pull the air out and have other fans pulling air in, something like that. Best thing I found was poking around in forums and online stores to see whats available. Good places to start tigerdirect.com

Google pc extreme air cooling, pc airflow, pc heatsinks.

I spent HOURS googling, reading forums, reading reviews on hardware before I built my last rig.

Minor overclocking, good heatsinks fans, and airflow and you'll be golden.

hey blind what i'm refering to is the two fans on the radiator on a water system . can i buy something like that and use the two fans to move air up towards top fan ? or do you think the 120mm fan i have is good enough ?

U goin with the i7 920? I've been lookin at the other i7's and think I'm settling on the 920. Blind's link to extreme overclocking forum is a great source. Been reading a lot there.

I agree your approach: research - then build.

Been lookin at graphics cards. I know there is quite a debate about using NVIDIA (which has been referred to as the GM of graphics card manufacturers). I think I'm going NVIDIA, in part, because of the abilty to use Rivatune to manage the card settings (including fan speed) and to mildly overclock the card's processor.

Hooligan,

120mm fans are plenty big, just remember.... more fans more noise

Most times you can set them up so they only really crank up according to temp... there are fan controllers as well.

The fans on the radiator are stock fans, by a fan/fans then by the grill and mount it up somehow. Some good parts links here:

When I look at these fans, I envison playing COD MW2 with my hair blowing in the breeze. Anybody remember that old Maxell tape ad with the guy in the chair being blown away by his stereo. I have visions of that.

LOL .. yeah i remember that .... Maybe i am going over board Blind ... I have 7 120mm fans now and a zalman cooler with a 110mm fan on my cpu . I have a coolermaster fan controller and antec stealth fans . so the only fan noise is from the cpu cooler , run off the motherboard ( ran out of outs on the fan comtroller ) . I guess looking at all that ko0l stuff made me want something new ...

This thread got me to start another build. This is what I've come up with so far, some of the parts I already own, some others I've ordered. Should be done in a month or so.

MOBO Asus Rampage II Extreme
CPU Intel® Core™ I7-965 Processor Extreme Edition (3.20 GHz)
GPU Dual BFG 8800 GTX OC 768MB PCIe
PSU Thermaltake Toughpower 1200-watt Modular PSU
CASE Lian Li PC-V1000b Plus
MEMORY (4GB) Corsair TWINX Dominator Dual Channel 2048MB PC14400 DDR3 1800MHz Memory x4
Fan Controller Zalman ZM-MFC2
HD X25-E Extreme SATA Solid-State Drive 32g

The solid state hd is only 32g, so I will put the OS and games on this apps and other stuff on conventional HD's.

I haven't quite figured out the cooling yet, going to wait to get all the hardware see how it all fits then worry about the cooling.

Going to air cool at first then probably upgrade the video cards (GTX 285 1GB 512-bit GDDR3 x2 most likely) and go to water cooling.

With any luck the project will be complete by Nov when MW II comes out.

The build will look similar, if all goes well, to this when I'm done:
