Case is ordered. Read a lot of reviews of a lot of cases. Here were the only things that gave me pause about the coolermaster 932
1. weight. It weighs a lot cause it is made of steel rather than aluminum. 2. It is god awful ugly. It reminds me of one of those post modern buildings you see in countries like Denmark. The face looks like the front is grafted on, etc. I think the look is determined by the placement of the 3 fans. It is more function than form. But since I intend to eventually do some overclocking, I think function wins out over form. I'll post some pics as I start to build. I'm ordering the wire sleeve kit next. What should I start looking at after that? Power supply? I'm thinking 750 watts. Thoughts? Is this overkill. I'm going with the I7 processor. Should I stick with coolermaster cause of the fitment in the case or will any supply work? Sailus |

I understand your problem because i am there myself .. i have some of the money to buy the parts i'm dieing to get but should i ? the reason i say no is by the time you get all the parts the ones you already ordered will have dropped in price considerably . just food for thought . then on the power supply . if you wanna over clock one day i'm sure you will wanna run dual garphics cards or sli .... i would get a 1200 watt psu just so you don't have to do it again . as for fitment ... if the psu doesn't fit in that big azz case i will be shocked !!!

Water cooling is really for SERIOUS overclocking, if that's what you are planning to do... go for it.
First thing you want to do is start off with a good base, mobo, cpu, ram and gpu('s). You want to select components the lend themselves to serious overclocking. Then you need a power supply with enough wattage to handle the job, and a big f'ing case, believe me when I tell you that unless you have a very large case you will be frustrated trying to get everything together. It doesn't have to look pretty...... just needs to be BIG. After that we can talk about water cooling which is kind of a complex subject. Just off the top of my head these are the items you need to gather up for water cooling a pc: Radiator('s) Fans for Radiator Pump Tubing (and clamps) CPU block GPU block('s) Chipset block, if you plan on water cooling the mobo. Reservoir Coolant Serious water cooling folks would scoff at the idea of a "kit" but swiftech sells one that I think is great for the first timer, this one will get you started if you plan on cooling your cpu and gpu, problem is.... as with water cooling in general, it get's expensive. http://www.swiftech.com/products/H20-220-APEX-ULTIMA-plus.asp That's about $400.00 I think. You can start with just cooling the cpu, that would certainly be less expensive. In the meantime start reading these forums, tons of info on water cooling and overclocking. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/ Then let me know from there and we'll put something together. |

what motherboard?
I am getting the I7 2.66 920 chip. The recommended board for that from intel is the ASUS P6t6 1366 Intel x58 ATX. Is this the right MoBo? Suggestions? I am probably sticking with an Intel solid state drive but what about the board. Sailus |

I'm getting the same chip .... blind has sent me some very good articles ... on the top two boards in my opinion ....
http://vr-zone.com/articles/asus-rampage-ii-extreme--p6t-deluxe/6233.html?doc=6233 the rampage is the best board but , it is expensive . |

The review puts the boards close in performance. The rampage has some advantages that I like but is about $100 more. I am tempted to go that route. I also liked the sync fan for the processor chip.
Any articles on solid state drives? ( i want to stay with intel to avoid conflict issues with Windows 7) I have the coolermaster case apart in my basement and am starting to bundle wires and cover them. The project is moving along at a glacial pace because I started working on my sailboat again a couple of weeks ago. It has been sitting covered in my yard for the past 5 years and, for some reason, this season I have been motivated to finish the restoration I started quite some time ago. It needs a couple months of concentrated work to get the boat ready to be taken to a boatyard and rigged for sea trials. The computer work is progressing on rainy days. Sail
