My Comcast connection finally went completely down. After running at 20% of the posted speed for the past 6-8 weeks, the signal died completely Sunday. I get nothing other than a blinking green light on the modem. If I had to guess, I would guess that the moden finally died.
I have been bitching since early December about crappy cable performance, so, the cable peeps decided to shut me up and send a rep. out in the a.m. tomorrow. So . . . I guess im off till then (I'm on the office laptop now - hmmmmm wonder if I can play on that one at work - lol). Sailus |

Did you hear that in Tuson, during the Super Bowl, instead of a comcast commercial, 30 seconds of pornographic material was played. Just reminded me of the first picture. FAIL

Drove the Comcast rep crazy today. Modem was definately down. I think the intermittent connection loss was modem related. Now, I Have a new Motorolla. Took the rep out to the curb and made him test the line. Then made him test it at every junction and split. Amazing drop from one splitter - had it replaced. Tested the speed before the router and after it. There is a little difference but not enought to worry about.
The short length of cable at the street was completely screwed. When my cable was fried by lightening a year or so ago, Comcast replaced the line from my curb-splitter to the house but didn't replace the 18" length from the cable bundle to the curb splitter. Duh! The performance pick up was significant. Wish I could have kept his meter. My speeds are not blazing but they are better. I am clocking close to the 1.5 mbps that the system is supposto be producing (so much for the 3.0 mbps speed boost). Catch u in game. Sailus Added: After playing for a short time last night, I must say that the game is running much smoother. There is very little lag at all and, in the entire night, only one connection interruption. The extra effort spent (we were measuring the connections for the better part of an hour) with the Comcast guy, to have the cable line performing at its peak was, apparently, well worth the effort. Now, if I could only get some skills. Anybody have FIOS? I am toying with replacing my cable with FIOS given the claimed speeds of 3.5 mbps. Are the claims real or are they no better than Comcast? How about service?
