I have heard a few people ask if there is a way to move the console and chat messages higher on the screen so they don't come across the middle. There is a way I know of but it's not something that can be done on the server side.
Here's how you do it: Open your config_mp.cfg file in your profile in COD5 and find the line for the key that is bound to move forward and change it, most folks will look like this. original --> bind W "+forward" change to --> bind W "+forward;seta cg_HudChatPosition 5 50" This will bring the messages to the top, you can bring them down by raising the first number. Let me know if anyone needs a hand setting this up.

No :/
Path to file in COD5 Here's mine in Vista, may have to enable view hidden files and folders to see it: C:\Users\My Name\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\players\profiles\blindsided In XP it should be something like this: C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty - World at War\players\profiles\blindsided I'd suggest making a copy of config_mp.cfg and put it on the desktop in case you mess up something horribly.

I still cant seem to find the profile file. I enabled view hidden files and folders but it still doesnt come up. Could it have something to do with it being in a secondary hard drive? Im at a loss.

Two things I guess you could do
1)Use Windows search feature to find config_mp 2)Type this in the console and it should write to the config: /bind W "+forward;seta cg_HudChatPosition 5 50"

Maybe seeing you did not install it in the default location it's in the Call of Duty - World at War/player directory. Vista put's stuff in that crazy appdata directory to protect the program file directory... seeing it's not installed there maybe thats what happened. Maybe point the advanced search to the hard drive that cod5 is installed on, it has to be somewhere or you couldn't play. |
