Hi Guys.

I'm going to build a new puter and would like some input on these parts and suggestions.

I was thinking of the Cooler master Haf. for the case. Here is a link from newegg.

I was thinking of an i5 processor but I'm torn between and i5 and i7.

Although the i7 is faster according to fudzilla reviews if an app does not use hyperthreading. It uses alot of resources and it only gives slight advantage over the i5 when it's turbo mode is on. Also it looks like the i5b has more flexibility.

Also for the $$$ it looks like the i5 would be just fine.
I'm leaning towards and i5 but haven't made my decision yet.

And I was thinking of this mobo.

I'm at a total loss for which vid card to get. Any suggestions?

Thanks

You may want to look at this:

I'd stick with the Nvidia chipset, something along these lines:

Make sure the memory you purchase/have is compatible with the mobo!

I'd at least have a 700watt power supply.

Getting a pc to fire up for the first time can be a real bear.

I usually fire everything up and make sure it works BEFORE I do finally assembly... so don't put anything in the case until it's all tested.

I also keep a cheapo video card around, sometimes (in my experience anyway) high end cards prevent first time boot up, cheapo card works every time.

Start with one stick of ram closest to the cpu and fire things up.... see what happens.

Oh yeah....

Thanks blind. The mobo&cpu combo looks good. I have two 8800gt's cuz, of the sli config I have right now. I could use one of those to fire it up and test it.

I wouldn't call the 8800gt a cheapo card, I bet with a quad processor and the cards in SLI they will perform quite well.

Easy 150-200 FPS in COD4

I'm running an intel quad Q8300 2.3 ghz. It does pretty well. Although sometimes I do get lag. Probably my isp.
I was thinking of updating mine and giving what I have now to my mother. Her PC is pretty slow it's what I had about 6yrs ago or so.

It's an ECS mobo with an AMD dual core ( I think) I'll have to look.

I'll probably keep the 8800's and buy her a new vid card. I'll have to look what's in her puter.
