There are so many things that it could be, I guess the first couple of questions are
Has it always been like this or is this something recent? What type of internet connection do you have? Has your ping gotten higher in our servers recently? Your numbers look okay for online gaming.. but I'm going to poke around a bit. I tested my connection here for fun and posted the results, I'm in New York. http://www.speedtest.net/ New York NY San Diego CA

ho0ligan1 wrote: I have great bandwidth, my problem is my isp has "hiccups" now and again so I lose my connection briefly... usually only 4 or 5 seconds. In any event it sounds like a pc issue more then an isp connection issue, especially if you don't experience this while playing cod4. The only thing you can really do is try and take as much pressure off the cpu and graphics card as possible by turning everything down.... you may have done this already: 1)Options and controls --> Graphics --> Anti-aliasing off this is a must for slower hardware 2)Options and controls --> Texture Settings --> Texture Quality make everything low. 3)Options and controls --> Graphics make all that you can NO 4)Options and controls --> Graphics --> Video Mode start at 800x600 (if your not there already) and see if that helps. 4)Type this in console --> /lodscalerigid 2 Sailus also had some success by overclocking his graphics card a bit, depending on your MOBO and GPU some MINOR overclocking may be something you want to look into.

The cpu could be a little bit of a bottleneck, I don't think you are going to be able to run the game at the highest resolution... what resolution are you running now?
Also, make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card. And just to give you some idea I get somewhere between 70 and 150 fps on this setup: Intel Quad Core Extreme 3.0ghz cpu 800gtx video card 756mb 4 gig ram As far as SLI it seems that you can mix and match the cards so long as the MOBO is SLI compatible... interesting article here: http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=ODY5 ....hrm, seems you can't turn off smileys, what a drag. But at the end I don't think your CPU will be able to handle it, you also need to look at your power supply, I suspect with SLI you would need at least 650 watts possibly more. One other thing, you probably do this as well, but turn off all non essential programs when you run the game.

Can you repost the article link ? My brother lives across the street from me . I asked him to run the speed test . His speeds were twice mine as well , So i called the cable company to send someone out .
Maybe when you get some spare time you could help me find a processor that will run a lil bit better until i can get the money together for a new rig . I have a Asus a8n- sli deluxe mobo . This was my second build i didn't really know what i was doing as far as matching the parts together . Thx again . Ho0ligan |

Just by testing the leads at each connection point along the way we were able to get my Comcast signal up to the 1.5 mkbs that they claim it should be. I have to laugh a bit when I look at your signal and blinds. Yours is 4 x mine and blinds is 20 x my signal speed. Even with a good connection, the cable signal can carry microbursts (or so the tech told me) that can cause a brief momentary lag. I still get these from time to time. Sailus |
