A statement released on March 31, 2009 indicated that there will be no patch nor maps released this week.
http://www.callofduty.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=125557 From the tone of the release, I think it'll be awhile before we see the maps. Way to go Treyarch! I wonder if the 1,000,000 sales of Map Pack 1 to the xbox consoles has anything to do with the delay in releasing the maps to the PC users? Bastages!! Ok, enough ranting for now. Can't wait for IW to open its beta for MW2. Sailus |

From callofduty.com Hi all, As the patch draws nearer, I wanted to post a more comprehensive list of what we’ve been working on for Patch 1.4. * 3 new Multiplayer maps: Kneedeep, Nightfire, Station! * Nazi Zombies map with more weapons, Perks-a-Cola machines, and electroshock defenses: Verrückt! * Improved spawning logic. * Auto balancing improvements. Players are no longer auto balanced while completing objectives. * Mods: IWD’s can be placed in the usermaps folder. * Mods: Hold Breath / Sprint functions as intended. * Mods: MissingAssets.csv is generated when maps are run with developer set to 1. * Fixed lag caused by shooting at tanks. * All rifle grenades fired during the first 15 seconds of Search & Destroy will be duds. * Players who equip a Bouncing Betty and melee teammates in Hardcore game modes are now credited with a team kill penalty. * Players are now deducted 200 points for team killing the bomb planter/defuser in Hardcore Search & Destroy. * Martyrdom no longer causes direct impact deaths in Hardcore modes. * “Bayonet jumping” has been disabled. Additionally, you’ll be happy to know that Map Pack 1 will be completely free for PC users, and included in the Patch 1.4 installer! The release of this Patch & DLC is still TBD at this time. I intend to release an ETA when we have settled on one – your patience is greatly appreciated. Regards, -JD |

blindsided wrote: I notice that there is no release date. I can't believe the number of COD5 servers that are empty these days. Interest in the game is falling off rapidly. By the time they get this patch out beta on 6 will be right around the corner. 6 will put the final nail in 5. wierdly enough, 5 runs much better on my piece of crap computer than 4. I hope IW incorporates all the improvements of 4 in 6. Bigger maps for one. Sail |

I still like COD5, but the game certainly hasn't had the success COD4 has had.
I looked at the server count today on Gametracker for both games: COD4 11,405 COD5 3,990 I agree, the next Call of Duty series will probably kill off COD5... it's pretty clear now that Infinity Ward is a better developer. Looking forward to the next version. As an aside looks like it didn't take much to get Ice's COD4 server cranked up again...... I've seen a lot of familiar names the last couple of days. |

Yea . . . its like old home week. Nice to see a lot of the players from 4 back on. Even saw Blacker last night.
After playing 5 for so long, the maps in 4 seem really small. The players seemed to have raised "choke point" camping to a high art in my absence. Not that I'm complaining, I have to admit to taking up my old position behind the counter in Crossfire and "repelling all boarders." And, of course, we have renamed the dumpster area "blind's corner". The real innovation of 5, IMHO, was to expand the maps to create enough space to get momentum up during a run and shoot game. Airfield is one of those maps that has it all over COD4. I sometimes feel clostrophobic in COD4 but am relearning some of the skills that have obviously atrophied. |
