Evenbalance

Some new cheats are now actually hacking FRAPS in order to cheat in the game. We're trying to work with the FRAPS people right now to get this addressed. The current situation is that PB kicks for any version of FRAPS that is not the latest version or any version that has the known cheat hooks. Both Xfire and FRAPS are being used by cheat authors in attempts to hide the cheat without hacking the game or PB directly. The kicks for old versions are restriction kicks rather than cheat violations - players who get the restriction kicks should not be in danger of receiving any kind of ban. A violation kick indicates that PB found a specific cheat hook.

All I know for the time being.... just something to be aware of.

I dont have time to looks at the article, and this came to mind first.

No, if it's not running it's not an issue, and I'm not even sure if it's for all games atm. They suck as far as communication goes.

Seems we can add Ventrilo to the listing of applications where hacks are currently hooked into.

I believe if you have the latest version of any of these programs there will not be an issue.

The latest version of Ventrilo is 3.0.4

The kick line would look similar to this:

RESTRICTION: Disallowed Program/Driver or corrupted file/memory

So if any player is being kicked with something like that in the kick line the place for them to start would be disabling Fraps, Xfire, Ventrilo and see what happens.

I have not heard of anyone being kicked for running Ventrilo yet but... I do know Evenbalance has their hands on a bunch of these hacks and are doing updates constantly.
