Just some ideas...

Let me start off by saying that this is a great server. Jenn's is, in my personal opinion, one of the best to be found anywhere.

If I may, however, I'd like to offer for everyone's consideration a few ideas that I've been mulling over recently. I'm not sure if the game would even allow these changes to be made, but I've heard that there is a large custom programming (modding?) community that does things like this.

1) An infinite range "leader tracker" on the motion tracker would be nice. Whoever the first place player happens to be at any given time would show up (preferably in some other color than red or yellow) on the motion tracker from any distance. I suppose a triangle over his head, like the ones used on team servers, would work as well. This would give other players a slight handicap in situations where one very skilled player is thrown together with a handful of beginners.

2) Some kind of increased health upon spawning, such as an overshield, for a short time would be nice. Spawn killing, in many players' (myself included) opinions, simply takes away from the game. This wouldn't eliminate spawn killing of course; if a player is run over with a vehicle upon spawning he would still die. But it would at least give him a fighting chance if, say, someone is waiting with a rocket launcher to grab an easy kill.

3) A permanent set of Server Rules, posted somewhere where it won't get harder to find over time (i.e. the server blog). I've seen some servers which display their rules when you join. The rules just pop up and stay on your screen for 10 seconds or so. Might we consider something like that?

4) A text ban app for spamming/insulting/trolling/rude players. If a player joins and simply starts spamming swear words over and over and over, well, that gets slightly annoying. If he then sees that he can't chat, he'll probably leave because he wasn't there to play anyways.

Well that's all I've got for now! Bear in mind these are all just suggestions. I'd welcome any feedback or second opinions from anyone!

Yeah, those sound pretty good. I'm always hesitant with mods due to possible instability, but I agree those cases make sense. Do you know of a mod tha addresses those?

I like 3 and 4. The reason we made this was to go back to the basic game. I'll still consider the other two though. =]

You two fellas ought to be wary of SLiMZiM. I don't know how much you monitor the server, but from what I can see it's close to never.

If you're seeking opinions on Slim, then please seek them from people who aren't friends with him and who aren't in the YG clan. Pr@etorian and Da have already posted on the Jenn's blog about what a decent, honest 'chap' this man is. I'm sorry guys but you're wrong; perhaps Slim is a loyal friend to you and perhaps you think I'm a fool, but the fact of the matter is, in private dialog Slim is threatening, intimidating and disrespectful and actually, childish. Take note that Slim has not posted any public content recently regarding the matters of Jenn's Island. No prizes for guessing he wants to preserve his public image.

I can provide you with some supporting evidence that Spirit's recent ban was planned. If you watch my latest X-Fire video (http://www.xfire.com/video/50a0fb/) you'll see clearly {YG}Da claims Spirit 'hacked' a facebook account, but failed to mention whose. He then repeatedly said he would not reveal whom he was talking about and that I would "find out soon enough" and that "it's not about me so I should shuddup". The next day Spirit was baited and banned.

Da clearly knew Spirit was going to be banned or he would not have hinted anything and he now claims it was a coincidence. SLiMZiM then contacted Da within 30 minutes after the ban to let him know he'd ousted Spirit.

SLiMZiM has also banned me several times from the server without warning, provocation or supporting evidence. He claimed he had 'many reports' from players but would not provide them and offered no warning beforehand. This has happened several times.

MiasmA (Luvs2sp00j) was also recently banned without warning or provocation by Slim, and was later unbanned by Pr@etorian. I have also personally witnessed the level some of the YG will go to in order to have someone banned. SLiMZiM will lurk under an unknown name, waiting for the YG guys in question to taunt and provoke a verbal attack from the victim and when they do--banned. No warning, no evidence, just banned.

Why you two don't pay attention to the activities on Jenn's Island is beyone me. You started a server and are presumably paying for it and then allow such an admin on your team. One who is not respectful, is not professional and worst of all, is unfair and determined to get his own way. Slim will work towards banning any players he doesn't like regardless of your 'RULES'.

{YG}Da hinted a few days ago that I'll be banned soon after I t-bagged him for complaining about Banshees. "You'll last long" were his exact words. I have also witnessed Da claiming he may have players banned from the server. Some other YG seem to be under the impression they too can have players banned.

The YG group have a monopoly on Jenn's Island, a public Free For All server, which overpowers any player who would seek to stand in their way. And anyone who chooses to speak up is then singled out by certain YG, provoked and eventually they either leave or are banned.

For the sake of your own reputation, please sort your staff out. The point of an administrator is to provide a service to the game server, to protect the players from attack by others, to provide a form of authority which can be trusted and to keep the tone of the server friendly.

Pr@etorian does a good job. I like Pr@, he's a good guy and just wants to have a laugh.

Slim wants power and thoroughly enjoys using it on his victims.
Petulance becomes you.

Gul and myself can provide plenty of evidence via private conversations (PMs) with Slim on how unprofessional and rude he is to players who choose to play on Jenn's. I have tried to share these PMs with you Roadkill since Slim's actions reflect back to you and the server and I was shocked to see you really didnt seem to mind or care. Admins should always be cool-headed, respectable, and professional. Slim has acted in no such way to me and several others. His actions show he thinks he is running the show based on what he wants and not any set of server rules.

Hello all!

While Gul made me aware of this thread i do not speak for him or have anything to do with BB, who have their own issues like teaming up on a slayer server lol. Although in fairness YG have been doing this for months too.

Also, spirit may be an arrogant disillusion troll, im fairly confident he is not a cheat, many years of play at high levels makes me very cautious of that accusation, and to me actual bots are usually pretty obvious. Spirit does not exhibit the signs.

That said, i have been playing Halo PC since release. While i have always resisted competitive play i have spent hundreds of hours playing against the very best Halo players that Europe has to offer on clan servers and the much beloved Jolt.co.uk, a frequent haunt of many of the best clans in the game at the time.

During my time playing on these servers i reached a good standard of play to compete with these highly skilled players.

If anyone is familiar with this server i used to play under the names "{mEr}Psymn" and "Aspartame" and later "MiasmA".

Im mentioning this because on Jenns Island i constantly get accused of cheating and sometimes banned by admin when in reality im not even THAT good. Thanks to one or two understanding and not bitter admin i have regained access to the server.

The big problem is that you have given rcon to some very low-skilled players that ban people without evidence. This includes snakedoc and roadkill.

I always record my games and offer to show that im legit but they always claim that a video can be somehow edited to look clean (lol).

My point here is that the only player with RCON at the moment who actually deserves it and can deal with the fact that people who best him are not definite cheaters is Pre@torian.

All the other players with rcon have demonstrated time and again a complete lack of competence in the game, bitterness at losing and ban good players (not ust me) for lulz.

It would be nice to get a clean slate for this server and reassess the people who care-take it.

I will be playing a few round this week, maybe under a fake name and record it. If i am banned that video will be uploaded just to see if anyone cares that the admin on this server is almost entirely horribly incompetent.

"...spirit may be an arrogant disillusion troll..."

LOL. Thanks! wait a minute....

I agree 100%. I've been called a hacker and cheater simply because I win. Some people just can't admit there are better players than themselves.

There is way too much censorship here too. Just because you disagree with someone why do you keep deleting post or banning people if they speak their mind in a respectful way? I noticed my post under the spirithalo3 name on this thread has been deleted. Sheesh. Good thing I anticipated this and copy / pasted it.

---------------

1) What good would a list of server rules be when your admins dont follow them? Slim seems to do what he wants...when he wants and neither of you two seem to care that he's abusing his powers towards people that he doesnt seem to like.

2) How come admins arent required to post the reason someone was banned (and proof of the occurance for that matter) when the banned person asks for it? That's pretty standard in almost everywhere you go. Yet here an admin can ban someone...offer no proof of the reason...or offer no reason at all when the person asks for it. That's not really professional at all.

3) I've had the discussion with you Roadkill several times and you agreed with me. Admins should be required to issue warnings to players or even warning kicks to get their attention and not just randomly banning people with no word or warning. This also is pretty standard and if players are joking around too much it lets them know to knock it off or else face the consequences.

You guys welcome admin abuse by not following some pretty basic rules and I for one am sick and tired of slim abusing his powers towards me. Make your admins issue warnings to players so that it puts them on notice...make your admins provide evidence whether screenshots or recording of a banned incident so there is no he says she says...and make your admins be required to provide the reason and proof when a banned player asks for it. Do these things and your admins will be required to stick to whatever server rules you make and you have no chance of people like slim getting power hungry and just banning people because he doesnt like them...or even trying to setup people up to ban them...which yes slim two YG members have told me you have been trying to do (I will not rat them out either).

I'm still waiting to hear why I was banned on Thanksgiving night as I didnt do anything wrong at all. Also, my blog account was suspended...why?

------------------------

Also, Roadkill and Snake I've found a way to block the ingame chat messages, but I guess since you've decided to act like this to me I guess I'll be unable to assist you. I offered help and friendship before and you just decided you would rather sit idle and let Slim treat me like crap and ban me with no evidence for his reasons. Oh well it was your call.

I agree, iv'e seen people being setup by {YG} members to do something that'll get them banned simply because they do not want that player on the server anymore, case in point, me being banned by slim when someone I "warped" simply because slim was on the server and of course that would trigger slim to ban me, i wasn't using the name HALO PLAYA at the time,he should have kicked, or at least warned me, people seem to never say i warp when they're killing me, but when they're noobin it up, hopping into a tank, trying to kill me with a heavy like the noobs do, and I kill them, they can't handle it, and therefore want people with more skill than them banned.

I just think the whole "I'm going to ban for first offense of ANYTHING and issue absolutely no warnings to the server or a specific player" is an absolute piss poor way to admin a server. No creditable server does this and neither should Jenn's. Praet says he usually just kicks people and that usually gets the point across. If it doesnt and theyve been warned then you can ban them. All admins should be required to follow a set protocol. You would then lose most of the drama that seems to exist.

I agree with that and the drop in ranks proves it.
