I've found that playing F.E.A.R. Combat with specs on maximum makes the game very difficult.. atleast more difficult..
I used to play with everything on minimum and off, with soo high fps that can not explain.. After putting everything on maximum except AA and such multipliers i had a hard time to find my enemies in the great fog, and even to bind my cross on their faces.. with the guns flashing while firing, they seems to blink from place-to-place in darker sides of the map, making hard to get a good accuricy.. most of the cool effects make it even harder to shoot them, and the shadow sometimes hides them in the heat of the war.. my avarage fps is around 110, minimum is 50 and maximum is 200.. you can see my system specs on my profile.. that made the game difficult, but it's more fun with those effects and stuff.. i suggest to u that modification too.. |

I thought ablout this too Dyin and think I will do the same thing the next time I play, to even the score a bit. I notice other players can easily shoot me through the fog while I cannot see them for an accurate hit. Sometimes the glamour of good graphics hold you back. I game with a GTX 260 SP216 so I always game on max settings. May have to change this to see what how much my game improves.

well, that is a good gcard..
the shadow softing option can dramaticaly change my fps for a small amount of beauty, so it is usually switched off.. the problem in that feature is, that the method it uses to soft the edges of the shadows is too costly.. other words, it needs more resources then it should.. this feature in next gen gcards and with dx10 is implemented much better.. your game will improve much u'll see.. u'll get a better view of the battlefield (effectivly), and you can undertake those hard situations you fled or avoided before.. i usually play on min or max as my appetite changes.. |
