Well, I have upgraded to an i7 and Asus P6t Deluxe V2, on Windows 7 64 bit build 7000, with a 7900GT.

It runs great, except it goes crazy with diagonal lines whenever I launch FEAR.

I have tried several newer version of the Nvidia Windows 7 beta drivers but it hasnt helped. When it goes into this scrambled video mode, it stays scrambled even if I ALT F4 FEAR, ...my desktop screen will still be scrambled until I reset Windows.

I am using the slightly older Geforce 179.43 now, instead of the geforce beta release drivers.

I am not sure what the problem is. I have a feeling it is a graphics setting because I can hear the normal game startup sounds continue after the graphics get scrambled...so the computer hasnt crashed, and thinks the game is running, but the graphics are just scrambled.

I will try upgrading to build 7057, and hope it may work then.

Otherwise, I have also ordered a Geforce 260 that will be here Tuesday, so maybe that will help if build 7057 doesnt.

Until I get it fixed, I guess I won't be playing unless I take the GFX card out of the new computer and put it in the old system.

peace till then

Hey Kontackt,
I have Windows 7 build 7057 I just upgraded to a few days ago and I have a GTX260 with the beta drivers from Nvidia for Win 7 and I am not having the same issue. I have a Q6600 and everything is more stable than the 7000 build. Hopefully the graphics card
will help out.

Make sure all your settings on the card are correct and everything is plugged in snug. I ran into this problem before and it was because my card was not in the slot completely. After I tightened down the card with a screw to the frame of my case, it pulled it out of the slot a little. I think this was due to the back of my case not being exactly 90 degrees to the angle of my board.

Hope this helps.

there are several applications with you can test the api of the grapical processing unit.. then, you can report it to the nvidia community, and you can discover, which commands or function are screwed..

i made the same story with my 6600gt, and they gave me a fix, that worked out..

edit: i don't think, this problem is related to individual system builds.. try to update directx, try to reinstall fear, modify graphics settings for the game in nvidia control panel.. but if i would you, i would wait for the new card lol..

Well, I was able to get into game by setting the graphics to 16bit (low) instead of 32bit (high). It causes some temp issues when I switch back, so I have keep it in 16 bit, and see websites, maya, etc, with lower graphics, but it works for now.

I am not sure why but it does work for now, and I may stay with build 7000 until the 260 arrives. Jsteel is 7057 better?

I love Win 7 so far, and dont really want to run XP now. My friend says that its not as secure, and that the official 7000 build will probably be the most secure build and he advised me not to update to the leaked 7057, but I am seriously considering it. What do you think? I signed up for the official beta, so is there a problem or risk with using or upgrading to the 57 version?

BTW....I upgraded to the new i7 quad core and 6gbs of ram on Win 7 64 bit. It seems to make zero difference in game.... I thought it would give me a little advantage, but it doesnt seem to. I will let you know after I get the grafix card.

ye, i've got sum strange issues with my nvidia 9600m gt too.. it seems, that video card switches back the fps to a lower value (to constant 30 or 50) from 180, and i still dunno why..

anyway.. xp or vista based 7 is less secured..? xp got a kernel and system developed in early 99 and coded by korean and japan students.. no way i can infest my business edition of vista with spys or anything.. sometimes nor when i grant admin rights to them..

Kontackt,
Windows 7 build 7057 is way more stable for me than the 7000 build. As for 7057 being secure, it is as secure as the 7000 build but with more improvements and Internet explorer 8 being completed. I would say it is a little more secure. The RC1 canidate should be out next month. Some testers will get it this month. It most likely will be leaked by then hopefully. Build 7061 is the "Official" RC1 Release for Win 7. Microsoft has already movin past the 7057 build. I am simply loving the 7057 build versus the 7000 build! It just seems smoother to me on my machine.

Win7 use to hang up on me after going into sleep mode, not anymore with 7057. I will stay with this until I get my hands on the RC1.
