Valve Details New DLC Campaign for Left 4 Dead
Valve's co-op zombie survival shindig gets injected with new life in October. The studio announced that a new DLC campaign for both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2, The Sacrifice, is coming this fall.

In an interview with PC Gamer, Producer Chet Faliszek said Valve originally planned to make The Sacrifice a L4D-only download after The Passing launched as L4D2 exclusive in April -- but the devs couldn't resist.
"It's a really fun campaign, it's got lots of high Hunter leap points and stuff," Faliszek told PC Gamer. "And we said, 'You know, this would be really cool in Left 4 Dead 2. Some of these locations would be cool for the Spitter and the Charger.' So we decided we'd release The Sacrifice not just for Left 4 Dead 1, but for Left 4 Dead 2."

The Sacrifice is a three-map campaign with a story that links the two games and takes some of the mystery out of the events portrayed in The Passing.

As an added bonus, the new DLC will give L4D players the new machineguns and melee weapons released in L4D2 and The Passing, and L4D2 owners will receive one of the original's most popular campaigns, No Mercy.

The Sacrifice is set to launch for free on October 5 for Windows PCs -- the same day Valve plans to launch the Mac version of L4D2 on Steam. The Xbox 360 download will cost 560 Microsoft Points ($7).
