For you Halo PC lovers there is a program you really need by the name of HAC2. NO, its not a hacker program; its Halo Anti Cheat (HAC). Among other benefits it sports a sightjack program (which can be disabled on some servers if the admin runs the game in scrim mode). Most importantly, it has a unique added benefit: when you enter the Internet Lobby of Halo PC, you will be able to see servers with non-stock, or "custom" maps! If you have your servers sorted by map type, then the custom map servers will appear all the way at the bottom of the list, past the "Wizard" game servers. If you have the servers sorted by server name, then the custom map servers will appear in name order along with the other stock map servers. If the server has been configured properly (at this point some are still working out the kinks), you will be able to click on the server and if you don't already have the custom map listed next to the server name, HAC2 will automatically download the associated custom map. Custom maps are a step beyond simple modded "server-side" maps. They tend to have more sophisticated modifications in scenary, skins, etc., that require the user have a "client-side" version of the map installed on their computer in order to play. If you have played Halo CE, you are already familiar with this process. If not, it's a bit involved, but suffice it to say that custom server-side maps give you lots more bang for your gameplay buck! But remember, in order to play on, or even see these servers, you will need to download and install HAC2. After installed, HAC will automatically update itself as patches and program enhancements are released, so there is no need to manually update the program after the initial install.
