Anybody got the new update? let me know your experience.

Update or not update, that is the question

So I updated. No, you do not have to delete your third party maps. 3rd party and what Frozen Sand calls "custom" maps are two different things. If you do update, make sure none of these maps are in your q3ut4 folder:

ut4_casa
ut4_company
ut4_docks
ut4_harbortown
ut4_herring
ut4_horror
ut4_ramelle
ut4_ricochet
ut4_subway
ut4_swim
ut4_thingley
ut4_tombs
ut4_uptown
ut4_fog_v1
ut4_garten

If you see any of these in your q3ut4 folder, delete them.

Then you just open the zip file and copy the new fles into your q3ut4 folder.

One problem, if the server is updated but you are not, your versions of these maps will clash with the new updated ones, causing missing textures, or walls, and other problems. On the other hand, if you are updated, you can still connect to servers that are not.

So far so good, I've been playing a little on Zoltar's haven Server, he updated a few days ago. The new Uptown is really nice.
So is the richocet and horror maps. He said he did take a few of the maps off because so many people that had not updated yet, were coming on and having problems.

So if you don't update and try to play on an updated server, you will have problems. You won't have problems on a non-updated server.

And if you do update, you can play on any server, and have the updated maps and skins.

It's going to take some time before everybody and all servers are updated, so its going to be interesting for awhile.

I did update a long time ago now and i don't have any problem, maybe most servers are now in 4.1.1 (i don't tell about 4.2, which is a born dead version, many servers without players)
