Process for becoming a member of {SLS} Sniper Lords

Plan on the process taking around a month from the time you first start playing on the {SLS} server.

Please note: Some of the requirements *may* be waived for applicants who are already known personally by existing members, such as friends, family, previous gaming buddies, etc.


Requirements:

After an {SLS} member suggests you apply, register for the website at www.slssniperlords.com, which you have probably already done. Post a NEW thread in the "Ask to Join" forum on your intention to become a member.

Be at least 16 years of age before applying.

Complete your site profile as soon as possible, with as much info as you feel comfortable with. Rest assured, none of our members are data miners, and this long process assures that all members are well-known and trusted by the rest of the group. Some of the members actually meet from time to time in person, or are family or friends offline.

If you have not already, install the Ventrilo chat client. If you have any trouble with this, post about it in the appropriate forum, every member uses "Vent", and has experience troubleshooting the problems that may arise. Spend as much time as you can chatting in vent while in-game getting to know the members, and letting them get to know you. This is one of the methods we use to "screen" individuals who might be disruptive or are not willing to be a team player committed to our goals, namely, having fun in a low-stress, drama-free atmosphere.

Rack up at least 20 hours of play time on our server. This is tracked via our own stats tracker or Gametracker.com, and time before your application is included.

Be active in the website forums, contribute to discussions. At least 10 posts in the 30 day "recruit period" would be a minimum.

Do not cheat. We do not cheat, and have ZERO tolerance for people who run cheats or hacks OF ANY KIND. Also, exploits or glitching of any kind will probably invalidate your application, if not earn you a ban from our server. We believe that if you're going to play, play fair. If you're getting owned, practice. If you use hacks or cheats, even in other servers or other games, do not apply.

Once the 30 days is close to ending, existing members will discuss your application. The possibility exists that the members could determine that you're not "a good fit". Please be prepared for this happen, however unlikely it may be. If you've been playing with us for that long, are still here, and met the requirements, it's almost guaranteed you'll be a Sniper Lord!

The primary thing to keep in mind is that the founders of this group wanted a place that mature, adult gamers could play to escape the stresses, politics and drama of the real world, and all five founders and most of the other members have been in gaming clans that were fraught with the very stuff that they come here to escape. Therefore, everything we do is geared towards keeping this light, fun, and a place people want to play.

We don't have mandatory dues, but we do have expenses. The game servers, the website and redirect hosting, all this costs money, so we do ask that each member donate a small amount from time to time to keep as much financial pressure off of the founders as possible. If you cannot contribute financially, you will not be chastised, or belittled, or pressured to contribute. This, and the module on the website, are very likely to be all you hear on this subject unless things get really tight.

If after all this, you believe you want to be a part of our community, can meet our requirements, and put up with {SLS} Dumpy's cheesy jokes, we all wish you the best of luck, and will see you in game.
