F22 Lightning 3
Solo Elite was formed in 1998 by its founder "Disciple" primarily as an F-22 Lightning 3 Squadron. The goal was to recruit top pilots and make them even better! The initial team was assembled and the legend of the greatest squadron in F22 Lightning 3 continues.
During Solo Elite's time in F22 Lightning 3, we dominated the skies of Novaworld, seven years later our legacy continues. Over the years we have won wars and tournaments with untouchable statistics and have a war record that is currently unmatched by any other squadron to date.
As time went by we grew in numbers and recruited some excellent pilots each with their own individual and valuable input to the team. Seven years later, F22 Lightning 3 still has a very strong online community. Unfortunately, this c

lassic gaming title can longer compete with modern day Combat Flight Simulators. Solo Elite needed to move onto something greater.
Lock On: Modern Air Combat
Along came a brand new Flight Simulator Called Lock On: Modern Air Combat. Lock on was set to be Solo Elites highly awaited next generation flight simulator. Initially the game itself was a hit amongst most members with in depth game play and graphics which still competes with todays more modern game releases. Even today, we still support LOMAC, although along came another game that proved much more popular with the members!
Battlefield 2
The eagerly awaited sequel to Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield Vietnam was finally released. Battlefield 2! Battlefield 2 got instant interest from majority of Solo Elite members, and that was despite it being a First Person Shooter! The Council agreed to Venture into BF2 and make it a game we would support and recruit for.
There was already interest in FPS by many members in Solo Elite even when F22 Lightning 3 was our most played game. Delta Force Land Warrior, Joint Operations, Battlefield 1942 and Desert Combat were played by a handful of members before Battlefield 2 sparked huge interest, so we did have members with FPS experience! We also got very stable in Activisons Call of Duty and Call of Duty United Offensive but at the time Battlefield 2 was far more superior!
Battlefield 2 still remains one of our most played games. However, during Solo Elites transition from Flight Sims to First Person Shooters we learnt the hard way what it took to start up in a new game in a different game genre which had a much bigger, vaster community. That said, the experience we all learnt in Battlefield 2 certainly helped us finding yet another game which members took a liking to: Call of Duty 4 – Modern Warfare!
Call of Duty 4
The creation of Call of Duty 4 was in a way a saviour to Solo Elite, in the same way Battlefield 2 was a saviour when F22 Lightning 3 ran its course. The difference is, Battlefield 2 is still a main game for Solo Elite so I guess you could say the urgency for another game maybe wasn’t as demanding. However, the Call of Duty 4 wing has evolved way beyond anyone’s expectations!
Call of Duty 4 has seen a new breed of gamers in Solo Elite. I guess the best way to describe it is the “new generation” of Solo Elite gaming. Call of Duty 4, for Solo Elite, has grown to be as big, if not bigger, then Battlefield 2. Even during the short time of the COD4 existence Solo Elite already has a War Record which speaks for itself. Call of Duty 4 is now seen as being essential for the continuing evolution of gaming and key part of Solo Elites current and continuing development
Evolution
You can see by reading the History how Solo Elite has evolved from one game to the next, and for the first time in the History of Solo Elite, how the team went about creating a “multi gaming” community. I feel there is still a strong future for the Call of Duty 4 team with many more wars, tournaments and matches to take part in and much more fun to be had,
Battlefield 2 tells a slightly different story but still provides members with a lot of fun and that essential competitive edge. There is still much fun to be had from what is now, a much more, older gaming title then COD4.
The evolution progress is likely to takes us down the path to what we hope will be the sequel to Battlefield 2, and that is Battlefield 3 known on PS3 as Bad Company. However, only rumours suggest it will be released, and it’s likely to be released in 2009. Watch this space!
Call of Duty 4 however has a sequel well on its way. Call of Duty 5! However, early reviews suggest it does not live up to expectations of its predecessor. This could be down to the fact it’s being developed by a different developer. Never the less, when the demo’s out, I am sure everyone will give it a try and make there own minds up.
Solo Elite is always on the look out for a way of moving forward. We will endeavour to cater for all the best new games that hit our shelves! As long as the Devs keep making them, we will keep playing them!
