Procedures for a Professional Melee Mode

I have a few basic ideas that I like to follow in regards to melee only mode. You do not have to follow these guidlines, but I think everyone would benefit immensly from them.

1. A Vote Must Be Taken: The majority of the players must want melee. A vote is taken by requesting that all wanting participants type AYE (or something similar) into TEXT chat. Voice chat voting doesn't count. With text chat, a record is kept of who voted. Admins cannot vote. Since they cannot vote, when calculating the majority, admins are excluded. For example, if there are 10 people on a server, but two are admins, the majority is 4, not 5.

2. Prior to activation, all engis must destroy all sentry guns.

3. Melee is activated immediatly after a positive vote.

4. If one person requests removal of melee, vote again. This time, AYE means no melee.

5. Remember: The majority wanted melee, or they didn't. Don't base melee on your own personal favors.

That's about it. If you can think of any more, please post.

Actually majority would be 5.

10 people on server - 2 admins = 8 players.

4 yes and 4 no = draw.

5 yes = majority.

Yeah, forgot about that. I was just trying to illustrate the fact that since admins don't vote, they don't count towards majority. Good observation, though

What if the server had Melee on, and an admin didn't want it anymore. he did a vote and 3 people said yes, and 3 people said no, but the admin changed it anyways. Wouldn't we keep the same thing if there was no majority?

Just wondering

Also, if an admin doesn't like the spade, and the boxing gloves during melee. Does he have the right to put people into spec if they are a soldier or Heavy?

Just wondering on that too.

I say no...just because a class is more or less powerful does not mean he should be banned. For example, would you ban the heavy in regular play because it takes a few shots extra to kill? Or the sniper because his headshot is so lethal. If you keep getting killed by these guys, maybe consider that it's you, not them. Also, I should add, instead of saying "say aye for melee" just type sm_vote Melee_Only yes no into the console to initiate a vote...
