Yes, 7 is muuuch better than Vista. My mom has Vista which I use at her house and I use 7. It runs PERFECTLY
Smoothly and better ona PC that is weaker than my mom's that is running Vista slow-like-ass.
I'm still on the RC version but I will format soon and install the full one. I'm on build 7100.
No complaints whatsoever. Although you need a specific Graphics Driver for you GPU for Windows 7. Simply go to nvidia.com and get it (Or amd.com if you got an ATI)

U cant !!
U need a new driver every single peice of hardware and u have a laptop oc so that would be "impossible" . U cant find laptop driver for motherboard , Wi fi ... etc for windows 7 easily.
besides u will lose warranty, and fuck up ur PC.

DONT DO IT UNLESS THERE IS A 100% way back.

Not true. Windows 7 is great because it also finds the drivers by itself for most of the stuff. He will only need a driver for his GPU and (Possibly) sound card. Since windows 7 is out already, all the hardware companies support and have drivers for Windows 7.

Unless his laptop is some piece of junk from 2003, he shouldn't have a problem
